If you pin internet shortcuts (".url" files) to the Win10 style menu, only a generic file type icon of the browser is shown.
The normal MS start menu correctly displays the associated icon.

Thats a real dealbreaker as I use the tile area of the start menu for all of my most frequently used websites.

Hi, it looks like "Internet Shortcuts" aren't properly supported. (URL shortcuts for example "steam://rungameid/381210")

1. They don't appear in the All Apps list.

2. If I Pin them from Start11 search results, it works but the icon stays forever blank :(.

Plz fix, I can't even pin Steam games due to this.

Other than that, I'm loving this update, the Win10 style alone made it worth my money! Cheers.

Just chiming in here to let everyone know that we appreciate the feedback and are actively logging items and working through items being listed here.

Yes, thanks. I did remove curtains. Yet the issue remains for the x3 monitor setup. Again, as noted, the two prior beta apps worked without issue.

I have copied your 1st issue report to the below thread as it sounds a lot like what we created it for.  Please review it and continue to help us there, please.

Windows Version21H2 (OS Build 22000.194) on a Dell G7 17

I have restarted multiple times, and have run the installation and the configurator as Administrator.

FAILED TESTING
Search
Search options are acting strangely.  Sometimes the sliders are movable and other times they are not.  But they are showing as available (not grayed out).  I am not seeing any changes in search behavior when I attempt changes.

PASSED TESTING (with some workarounds)
Start Menu
Wasn't able to get the menu to change to any of the choices until I went into the Control section and enabled all options to Start11 menu.  Perhaps there needs to be clarification in the Start Menu section if this is a necessary step, or perhaps I've uncovered a bug?

Start Button
Have changed the Start button and that works.

Taskbar
Tried some taskbar setting changes and those worked.

Control
See notes above in Start Menu section.

I updated from Win10 to Win11 today.  Should I be checking DLL versions for compatibility?

Thanks!

Just updated to RC1 on Windows 10.  I'm using W7 style.  I noticed a couple of things.  There's no bar separating pinned items anymore, There's no arrow indicating more options menus and now when you right click on items only a blank window pops up even on the Shutdown button.

Updated earlier and declined the reboot when I was prompted.  A few minutes ago, our power flickered and my machine rebooted.  After logging in Explorer's task bar would hang.  No icons would appear.  Killing explorer and restarting it from the task manager was no help unless I stopped the Start11 service and killed its process. Killing Explorer and running it would at least get me a task bar.  Rebooted a few times and got the same results. Uninstalled Start11 and it's back to normal.  Something about the new Start 11 is very broken for me and it's literally unusable.  This is a fresh install of Windows 11 as of last week too.

Edit: Someone from SD suggested running the purge script for a different issue I was having. That fixed my problem here as well.

Yay, it's so nice to have groups back! Thank you thank you thank you!

A couple of minor things to report (RC1):

1) dragging icons around sometimes leaves the icon for a different app showing. It goes away if I close the menu and reopen.

2) If I click on the Start button (not the windows key), I get both the Start11 and Win11 start menus come up on alternate clicks. It only seems to happen when there are no windows open. Happens in all themes.

enchantedloom: Also seeing something like this. Sometimes the native start menu appears when I click the start button.  Clicking the start button briefly pops start11 behind that but it immediately disappears.  I've noticed it doesn't do this as long as I have the Start11 config window open.

Rearranging icons is broken.  When dragging icons in the Modern style, releasing actually jumps it an extra position to the right from where you drop it.  So dragging an icon between positions 1 and 2 results in it settling in position 3.  In another Start11 layout I couldn't reliably predict where the icons would go. It seemed to completely disregard where I was tying to place them and would randomize some of them just by trying to move an icon.

Edit: I'm having all kinds of issues.  Start11 is completely unusable in its current form for me. I'm giving up on it for now.

It often makes explorer.exe hang, forcing me to kill start11, stop its service, then restart explorer.

Toggling left/center positioning is broken.

Icon dragging/rearrangement is broken.

Start11 menu does not reliably work when centered on taskbar (was an issue in .55 as well but .9 isn't working well enough to even test that properly.

I just checked Start11 based on setting the menu etc. centered. I'm on a 32" 4k 16x9 and I measured (with a ruler) the dead center. The start menu is to the left of dead center. As to be expected, rather than centered to the horizontal plane. The icons in the taskbar are centered to the horizontal plane as well. I have checked the setting on three machines (different screens) and the results are the same.

START 11 RC 1

On implementation getting message "This app can't run on your PC"

Windows 11 PRO, build 22000.194

I'm really liking how Start 11 works, but there may be a small function that either doesn't work properly, or I am an idiot and can't figure it out. In Windows 10 you can pin a file to an associated application in the start menu. Ex. right click on microsoft word, see a list of pinned documents that can be opened with microsoft word, Windows 11 default start menu lacks this function. I used the in place upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 and upon installing Start 11. I can see and open the files I've previously pinned (on windows 10) but I can't find any way to pin new ones.

This applies to Windows 11x64 Pro (21H2 OS Build 22000.194).  The latest Start11 (Windows 10 menu theme) does not allow me to pin Internet shortcuts.  This is important to me because I need financial links, etc. pinned to the Start Menu.  Windows 10 permits this.

This is my first time for using Stardock Start11, so I hope I am not overlooking something.

I'm using Windows 10 with dual monitor.

Taskbar buttons are always left aligned even with "Position the taskbar buttons in the centre of the taskbar"  enabled.

With Curtains, Start11 transparency effects only work if Curtains style is set to "Windows 10 by Microsoft". Not a big deal for me.

Otherwise, looks good so far.

End of JohnMuir's quote

Are your taskbar buttons set to show labels?  Things will only centre if there is sufficient space and this will automatically stop if the taskbar buttons fill the width (even if you have multiple lines)

With regards to Curtains, that would be normal.  Curtains styles would override Start11.  The UI needs to indicate this however.

What method were you using to pin the URL files to the original Windows 10 menu?  Right clicking on one doesn't seem to offer a pin to start option and dragging one shows a do not drag indicator over the start menu.

It should be the same as on Windows 10.  Right click on the app and the jumplist should show.  You can make documents from the recent list become pinned by clicking on the pin icon on the right hand side.

Is there a way to disable/remove the 'Recently installed' section that's at the top of the Windows 10 style menu?

Currently no, but I am sure we can see about adding an option for that.

Such an option would be great! I also would remove this section if possible. :inlove:

Just installed the RC1. Could it be that the profile picture is not showing? This seems to be a problem in all styles. And I remember that this was also a problem of build 0.55.

But there is a profile picture available.

I'm using Windows 11 Pro 21H2 (Build 22000.194).

Maybe you could fix this?

Really liking the updates in RC1. I'm using the Windows 10 style menu, although I do not utilise the pinned apps portion of the menu.

Would it be possible to add the functionality to delete the empty page, or allow the "Pinned" right hand portion of the menu to be collapsible all the way onto the main menu like you can in Windows 10 when it's empty?

Currently I can enlarge it, and shrink it back down by dragging the edge but the smallest it will shrink to is the size shown below.

I realise I might be an outlier in how I use this and most people might only use the menu FOR the ability to pin apps.

No. Used the origin Windows 10 menu before in Windows 10. Upgraded to Windows 11 and didn't like the start menu. So I installed Start11. :\
