The idiotic postings below about the democratic party.

The idiotic postings below about the democratic party.

You complain about nothing positivey from democrats??!? Maybe you missed the eight years of non-stop whining from the republicans! For eight long years they couldn't get over an ELECTED president they didn't like. Imagine if Clinton's brother had fixed his election, not one republican would ever SHUT UP about it!
EVER!

You want a positive agenda? Try the earned income tax credit that CLinton got passed that lifted millions of Americans who work for a living out of poverty and off welfare. Try the programs that put internet and computers into the vast majority of american schools that we without them. Try the Middle class tax cuts that gave us unpresidented booming stock markets that dwarfed anything before or since. You could try the lowest unemployment in 30 years. Or the first budget surplus on a yearly basis in 36 years. You want positive? Then put a democrat back in charge!

You want negative? Then look around. THree years and we have the highest deficits in the HISTORY of the country. We have lost 3 MILLION jobs in just three years, that never happened any time except the great depression with Hoover. You want negative, the judges you want to call qualified would love to take us back to slavery and a church run society. When your justice dept is run by a man who was fighting to keep Activly bussing black kids across town to stick them in all black schools, you are not an acceptable judge of qualifications.
You want negative, try the blaming of enron's rip off of charging 3000% higher than the highest rates in HISTORY in California on the salmon run like Cheney did. With memo's calling the program "death star" in Enron stationary, Bush said "I don't know Ken Lay". Only texas newspapers from the Gov's term show them buddy buddy as can be. He is a LIAR!@|!!!!
In the 2000 debate Bush claimed he sponsered a bill of rights for patients in Texas, and blabbered on and on about how proud he was of it. HE VETOED IT TWICE!!! And it became law WITHOUT his SIGNATURE! He's a LIAR!! Clear and plain.

You want to talk about the blackout, Fine. Lets talk about how the Grid upgrade was in the budget until BUsh told the gopers to veto it. TWICE! Republicans talk about responsibility, but somehow, when they are in office and everything always goes to hell, they are never responsible for any of it according to them. Let's talk about the fact that the company where it happened, first Energy gave hundreds of thousands to Bush and had massive leaks in their reactor in Ohio
that they barely caught when inspecters came in. The safety record for them is disgusting.
Yet thanks to Bush, the regulaters keep loosening the reigns on them.

Well, if you control all three branches, and the country is in the worst state it's been since the depression, don't tell me you aren't responisible!

You want positive agenda, look at the small business tax breaks Howard Dean gave in VErmont that increased their jobs by 26% over six years. Only his state isn't cutting everything to the bone under Bush. Only his state still has a $10 million dollar surplus to get through.
Across the country, every state run by the GOP is bankrupt. What to the republicans say for themselves? Excuse after excuse. Bill Clinton had one affair, Bush is screwing the whole nation.

I'm at a loss to help with AR's wasting his time. I know what you mean now though Anthony, it's like you're talking to yourself.  For one thing, I have no idea who Tim Robbins or Grossie ODonnel are, should I know these people? and why do you have to make Dubya out to be a hero and Clinton a traitor?  Why not just look at the truth about both of them and work for a better system of government where America comes first, not oil companies. Enron, corporate fraud and the World Bank/IMF.  They're getting obscenely wealthy at your expense and your parroting their propoganda.  hmmm... talk about wasting time...

George W Bush is not perfect, but as far as the War on Terror goes, he has been making all the right moves. If Gore was our current president, would there have been military action in Afgahnistan? Would the Afgahn people be liberated? Would the Iraqi people be liberated? I highly doubt it. Democrats are wimps when it comes to national defense. I believe that there would have been more terrorist attacks, and we would all be hiding out in our bomb shelters.

All the Bush bashing is getting old and the more Democrats bash the more they hurt their chances of getting elected. The American people are smart enough to see though Democratic smear campaigns and propaganda. That is why we have control of both the House and Senate. We do not have a strong enough majority in the Senate, however, since the Democrats have been able to filibuster on and on so that a vote on Bush's federal circuit judge nominees can never be voted on. The longer the Democrats carry on their filibuster, the more they are shooting themselves in the foot. Hopefully, the 2004 election will increase our majority in the Senate.

jeez... I wasn't gonna do this but I can't help myself. TC, let me give you my opinion of your points, one at a time.

"George W Bush is not perfect, but as far as the War on Terror goes..."
This administration INVENTED the "war on terror" complete with either allowing 911 or actually doing 911 to kick it off. Even republicans with half a brain know that. The war on terror is a mechanism of their agenda, nothing more. The result is a lot of terrorist acts can now be expected that probably would never have happened if we didn't invade half the Middle East with promises to invade even more countries.

"Would the Afgahn people be liberated? Would the Iraqi people be liberated?"
Read the news (the real news). Neither of these countries is "liberated", they're "occupied". Iraq is costing American taxpayers 6 Billion Dollars a month to occupy so we can control where their oil goes and make Halliburton, Carlysle, Bechtel and Worldcom Billions in profit. The Iraqi people so far have been screwed in this deal. It's about to get a whole lot worse too thanks to the stupid mosque bombing which killed the Shia's most beloved cleric (they're convinced the Americans did it, whether that's right or not, they believe it so your war on terror is taking yet another leap.) If you care so much about Iraq getting free health care, a state of the art phone system, new homes for everyone, free universities, why are you such a jerk about poor mothers in America getting child care or poor people getting food stamps?? Maybe you should go to Iraq since you don't seem to like the people that live here (and all our money is going there anyway).

"Democrats are wimps when it comes to national defense. I believe that there would have been more terrorist attacks, and we would all be hiding out in our bomb shelters"
Funny but under the democrats national defense seems to have worked a bit better than it's doing with the Bush gang in power. And isn't it funny that the ONLY people we've seen hiding in bomb shelters has been Bush and Cheney! Cheney must've spent at least six months hiding in one undisclosed bomb shelter after another and he's building a huge (top secret of course) bomb shelter UNDER HIS HOUSE at a cost of $2 billion to the taxpayers. Who's a wimp? Clinton walked down Pensylvania Avenue waving to the crowd at his innauguration. Bush was hiding in an 'undisclosed' limo with the windows blacked out surrounded by thousands of troops in a caravan of identical limos and even the national news crews couldn't tell which car he was in!! Was the most surrealistic innauguration I've ever seen. Looked like a scene from 1984. That should've told you something right there, it sure got through to me...

"The American people are smart enough to see though Democratic smear campaigns and propaganda."
And yet it's the republican party that spent two billion dollars trying to prosecute a sitting president for (anything they could find) something (a $20,000 real estate loan? jeesh) and after two years finally got him for getting a blow job in the Whitehouse. Great work  guys, $2 Billion investigation and we got felatio all over the national news thanks to the republicans. Clinton did the honorable thing imho by trying to not make it so public but when it came to being under oath, he did not lie. Bush has never answered to the fraud investigation of his sweetheart "influence" loan from Harken for millions of dollars, the SEC was 'pressured' to drop the case. Bush has never had to answer for the $50 million loan from Saleem bin Laden, passed through George Bath at the Carlysle Group to start his first oil company (which failed). But you claim the democrats are on a smear campaign... give me a break. The republicans have become the party of dirty tactics even to the point of outright voter fraud, and yet you want to convince us it's the democrats being dirty. A trick used to great advantage by the nazi party in Germany was expounded on by Goebbles, Hitler's propoganda minister, "the bigger the lie the better, just keep telling the lie over and over, If anyone questions the lie just repeat it again and again, and soon all the people will believe it. ."

The war on terror you are so proud of is an assault on the mental state of citizens who don't want to be bothered with international politics and are made to react in fear by your terror alerts, bio weapons threats, weapons of mass destruction threats. It's no wonder people are confused. We've never seen such a terrible threat to our security, and guess what? it's all made up by your criminal conspiracy in the Whitehouse. If you don't watch TV you'd be amazed how little danger you're really in. The only increase in danger that's real is the one being CAUSED by the Bush administration.

I hope this helps you sort out your thoughts... peace man

Sure he is, he's not 'involved' and the body bag count has now passed that of those killed during the so-alled 'war' in Iraq.

Would the Afgahn people be liberated? Would the Iraqi people be liberated?

Neither are liberated .... America is (once again) an 'occupying' power.

. The American people are smart enough to see though Democratic smear campaigns and propaganda.

Doh!

I have a hard time believing in any conspiracy theories. Both the extreme left and the extreme right have their fair share of conspiracy theories based on bits of information and rumors. I listen to a show on the radio at night called "Coast to Coast AM" . It is not meant to be a politcal talk show since it mostly focuses on science and the paranormal. I remember one time they had a guest on that believed in the whole Bush let 9/11 happen conspiracy theory. It just made me mad to hear him go on and on about how he thinks that Bush would let 3,000 people die just for political gain. People who believe that 9/11 was an Israeli plot to get the US on their side on their fight against terror make me made too. How anti-semetic is it to believe that Israel would involve itself in such a conspiracy.

It is my opinion that 99% of all conspiracy theories are bunk. I don't know how many Republicans out there believe that Vince Foster did not commit suicide but was murdered, but I don't buy the conspiracy theory that Clinton had Foster murdered. Although it could be possible, there is not enough evidence to convince me of it. Even Keneth Star doesn't buy that theory.

I think people in the extreme left create conspiracy theories to have something to attack the right with. I also think there are people in the extreme right that create conspiracy theories to attack the left with.

I am also sick and tired of liberals trying to make Bush out to be a Nazi. Whether his grandfather was one or not I do not know, but I don't think George W Bush is one himself. I can't think of an American President that has been a greater friend to Israel than Bush in recent years.

I find it humiliating for America that when questions are asked regarding facts we know about 911 the response is that it's a conspiracy theory or it's un-american. How embarrassing that when we are attacked on such an unprecedented scale, a new 'Pearl Harbor', our president and the vice-president literally beg Congress to not investigate what happened. A federal commission that starts a year late to look into the events is underfunded, intimidated and stonewalled by the administration.

The questions go unanswered but the facts are there for anyone to see. We look like fools to the rest of the world arguing about whether it's appropriate to investigate the intelligence failure or the complete breakdown in standard security responses to hijackings (as well as about a dozen other bizarre occurrences that all coincidently aided the attack). To quote the president, "An investigation into the events of 911 would interfere with the war on terror."

I can't think of a single precedent for such a statement. After the real Pearl Harbor all the heads of intelligence agencies resigned in disgrace and a blue ribbon commission was immediately formed that investigated the entire affair (with cooperation from the Whitehouse) and we were fighting a world war! It didn't interfere with that. And yet we have not found who committed these acts against us, who planned it, or how it was allowed to happen under the nose of such an awesome intelligence machine as the CIA, NSA and FBI.

And apparently that's okay (preferrable even) to the party in power. We invaded Afganistan and overthrew the vicious government we had placed there in hopes of getting cooperation on an oil pipeline, (go figure) but they didn't cooperate so we're better off now because now the pipeline is being built, and oh yeah, we got the evildoers. well, kind of, we still need Osama to keep the agenda rolling so we didn't get him... and uhm, we have no idea who attacked us so we probably didn't get them either but we can pretend I guess... And now we got Saddam! who had nothing to do with 911 either and now we find wasn't an immediate threat to us but hey, he was an evildoer so what the hell... and we got his oil, oh yeah that's a good thing.

What about 911? Why don't people want to know who did it and see them punished? Why are we going to war with the whole freaking world when we still don't know who attacked us? It's absolutely insane.

I'm done... go ahead and have the last word, I'm going to bed. Tell us a fairytale about what a good father Dubya is and how we'll all be safe as long as he's watching over us with the "war on terror". I know I'll sleep better knowing we have a brand new nuclear arsenal being deployed to protect us from evildoers, wherever they may hide. The 3 million jobs that have vanished from America and the record bankruptcies and foreclosures that have graced this administration are only a sign of how our economy is improving. Hell, it's already all fixed if you listen to the right (no pun intended) radio guys.

Today Bush relaxed the federal regulations that made it a responsibility for hospitals to accept emergency room patients regardless of their ability to pay. Saturday Bush disbanded the federal agency that monitored nuclear materials to prevent them falling into the hands of terrorists (cost a million bucks, we couldn't afford that, would interfere with the war on terror)

Yeah, I'll sleep like a baby knowing that at this point every single environmental protection passed in the last thirty years has been removed by the Bush administration. Every single treaty regarding non proliferation of nuclear weapons has been tossed, every treaty regarding bio weapons, land mines, human rights  or the international court (most of which we had not ratified but we did sign and encourage other countries to participate) has been put aside so we can engage in the war on terror without any meddlesome restrictions.

sweet dreams...

I don't know how I can respond to all that. You state all these "facts" without any links to any websites where I can check these "facts" out for myself. You obviously have very strong opinions and you are entitled to them. I can't change your mind, and you can't change mine.

I can't wait to see what Anthony R has to say about all this.

Oh, IF ONLY 'facts' were just a 'link'-click away from anyone.....in your dreams, kiddo...

I'm sure there has to be sites out there than can be used as sources for facts to back up opinions. I mean real sources, not Biff's Conspiracy Theories and More.

Tech Cat I think your right about the special on tin foil hats.

From what I understand the Homeland Defense Dept is ready to announced everyone needs to double up on Duct Tape, Plastic Wrap and at least three Tin Foil Hats to be fully protected from Microwave and Radiation in case of a Dirty Bomb or Nuclear attack.

Ever hear of consolidating ideas into one defining argument at a time?

Dave is obviously superior, it is good to know that a book fully documenting the failures that lead up to 9/11 is finally being released; author Richard Miniter spent two years obtaining and compiling the details. I have a feeling this will become a very popular read.

Hard to understand the liberal, but that is logical, if all the Democratic representatives make no sense, how can you count on their constituency to make sense.

Bill O says a poll has 65% of Americans unable to even name one of the nine democrats...Because they don't even know who they are.

Before the bashing of Drudge Report begins, I will remind everyone that the Drudge Report is mostly links to other news sources. If you claim that Drudge Report is not a credible source then you are also saying the same about AP, Washington Post, ect.

AR...you've got your opinion, another has another one. It is easy to blame a person (or a party) for having done a bad thing that impacts your life. Your country has the right to bear arms, others that might attack you or your fellowcountrymen should ofcourse be disarmed, or at least be removed from power and brought to American justice. Meanwhile the Bush administration have successfully protested to a Belgian law that actually could sue and bring people to Belgium to be convicted of genocide. That law has now be changed into a blank dummy paperlaw. ( You wonder why, because the American administration will never commit genocide ofcourse ). Also do not forget that your country actually voted a 50/50 and that by a margin of a few votes Bush became president. And now he acts if everybody has to follow his lead. Are people in your country such sheep they just follow what they have been told? I like DavidK's response, he sounds as if he did some good investigations about what is happening in these times and where the incentives to overthrow foreign governments come from. I would like to remind you that none of the prominent people are caught and still are on the loose. My guess is that they will not be caught because it is more convenient for any US government to keep them running. You will not get stabilisation in this world, and there is no country that will accept US supremacy. It is just a very unhealthy situation at the moment and whether a Democrat or a Republican is in the White House it is probably not very different. As I see it you might earn more because of tax cuts, but at the same time your job security for the future has gone down badly. I would say that we all should try to govern ourselves and let people live in peace rather than fingerpoint towards each other and blame them for your stress and mistreatment. The only one that can make you healthy and happy is you. You have to make your choices for yourself not a Bush or a Clinton.

Drudge is one of my favorite sources of news, known for breaking stories before the mainstream press. btw - ridiculing me doesn't help anyone's argument. You keep asking for links to the facts I'm stating but having re-read my posts I see there's nothing in them that wasn't on CNN or the Post, NY Times, etc. The notable exception being all the stories about the administration's assault on existing agencies and laws, or in other words, all the administration's policy decisions. These seem to only be reported in the BBC or the Guardian or other foriegn press or smaller American newspapers. Interesting that the policies which affect Americans on a daily basis are faithfully reported in foriegn media but not on your national news shows.

American TV news has become nothing but soundbites and distraction.

I can't help you with your problem of not knowing about our recent history. I suggest you pay closer attention and open your horizons a bit. I read several of the right-wing media you've linked to but I also read the Times, the Post, MSNBC and CNN's websites, about a dozen regional newspapers (mostly conservative views) the BBC, the Guardian, the Jerusalem Post, the London Telegraph, India Times, the Sunday Herald (Scotland), Arab News, Salon, World Net Daily, Truthout.org, and the Villiage Voice (for Nat Hentoff's articles). I also keep up with breaking stories from dozens of other sources. It's not like I'm making this stuff up.

My passion about getting answers to the questions surrounding 911 comes from the same motivation every person in the world felt the day it happened. My sense of shock and revulsion, the feeling that something truly evil had been unleashed on the world, was overwhelming. I don't think I slept for days and I devoured every story from every source in the world I could find, even direct news wire services. If you ever have the time or the interest I'll be glad to share my observations.

Whatever this thing with tinfoil hats is (it's come up before) I can't help you there either. I know it's meant to be funny and I'm sure you all mean it in a friendly spirit, but does it do anyone a favor to belittle and dismiss rather than discuss?

My reference to them and aliens reading our minds is from the movie Signs.  It's a pretty funny scene.  My reference had nothing to do with anything since I stay clear of political discussions because people get offended by my odd views (like the fact that I am anti-feminism, for example).  So, I just sit back and read instead
