Money!

Money!

Thought that would get a few ppl's attention

My post is really about giving Wincustomize our hard earned cash! In my case I'm talking about subscribing to the site and how I can't. You see I don't have a credit card as alot of us brits don't. We rely alot more on debit cards as it's just plain easier not to straight down a road of debt if you don't have to.

I realise the site won't want to take debit cards and would prefer credit cards but wot happens to us who just can't get anyone to lend us their cards to join with? I use Paypal on the internet. Let's face it it's safer and more convenient and most sites abroad take it.

I'm getting fed up with being told the server is too busy for a limited account like mine when it isn't my choice that I have a limited account. Can someone not sort something out for us credit minded ppl like me

Anyone one else find it the same problem. I know if paypal had been available alot more products from stardock would have been bought and that surely should be the thing that matters to them.

mine does to. but it should be noted that paypal would bring in alot more customers. I use paypal for all my auctions on ebay. It gives me the ability to let customers use credit/debit cards.

I have not had the money to get the subscition but it will happen soon.

I'd just like to add a bit of information here- Stardock Sales does *not* read
these boards.  you guys can talk until you're blue in the face about
Stardock payment policies and nothing will change.  It would be better to
go to the source: sales@stardock.com  As with all Stardock issues, please
contact Stardock directly if you want results.

it's only here i have a problem. that's the whole point of my post. i feel it's all falling on deaf ears.

Never mind

The point of this was for this site only, everything else is fine

Gypsy: It's not falling on deaf ears, just the wrong ones. Karmagirl responded and told you there is no point posting it here as the ears it needs to reach do not listen to this site. The Sales team don't frequent this site and read the messageboards. Therefore you need to contact them by email if you really want anything to even have a chance of changing. Nothing gets changed without someone asking for it. If they don't listen and change you've lost nothing. If they do listen you've gained though.

Why do people post on the messageboard as if it is an official Stardock channel? All you get is alot of suggestions you're not interested in from fellow nonstardockians while your comments really won't get the attention of the people who can affect the changes you like to see. Follow KarmaGirl's advice and contact the sales dept. You've got good points about people whose custom they might be missing due to various reasons. Why not follow up on it with the appropriate Stardock staff?

I'm so confused here.

I thought poor Gypsy is talking about THIS SITE? yes, no?
I don't think she's talking about SD.

Lady Akasha.... re-read Gypsy's original post, she mentions both, WC, and Stardock.

Gypsy Darla, you really should listen to te suggestions people give you. There are indeed debit cards that are accepted as credit cards, and I believe the Amex blue card is one of them.  You can only spend what you have available in your account, they won't allow credit. At least, that's the way the VISA debit card works, the AMEX one is probably similar.

Very useful and it would solve your problem without endangering you to go in debts.

Personnally I don't believe in credit cards either. I only have one and it has a 1,000$ limit. They called me to increase my limit, but I refused.

If you have ever purchased a WC subscription or anything from WC you will see that it is charged by Stardock.  Stardock owns and maintains this site.  Customer service and support are offered through Stardock.  Stardock is where you need to contact for any sales or support questions/comments whatever.

You can't talk about how WC is run without talking about Stardock.

If you have a sales question about anything on this site, please email sales@stardock.com as I mentioned already.  I work at Stardock- I know these things.

stardock was told about wanting different payment methods a while ago. they basically said tough. My thinking was if i raised the issue here maybe the more important ppl here that stardock would listen to would mention it. If ppl said that loads of ppl at wincustomize are moaning that we need easier ways for the international ppl to pay for stuff then maybe they would listen.

My question is this... do ppl here think there should be better options when it comes to the method of buying things on this site eg the subscription to here? (I don't want to know if ppl think i should go out and get a credit card or new style of debit card blah blah blah)

If ppl think the site is ok as it is then fine, i've had my moan and i know i'm on my own in it. If you agree with me then it would be nice if ou say so, that way I have something to go to stardock with. I didn't expect this post alone to change things. I just wanted ppl's opinions.

If only i'd known it was going to be this hard in the first place

Gypsy Darla , who did you speak with at Stardock?

Saying "Stardock" said something is pretty vague since it is an entity, not a person.

Gypsy..... I'm not trying to give you a hard time, ok? In your original post, you said Stardock won't let you use Debit cards, and that is simply not true. Have you even attempted to use yours? You asked for feedback, you got it, (don't complain, that it's not what you wanted to hear). Obviously, the majority of people that have read your thread, have no problem with Stardocks methods, and most are simply trying to help you.

Not everyone wants or needs a credit card, correct? So banks came up with the debit card. This gives a person with bad credit (or one who doesn't want credit) the opportunity to make quick and easy payments without having to write a check. In this day and age, it also gives those same people the ability to shop online.

As long as your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo, it can be used online and face-to-face all over the world. I've used mine in America, Canada, Europe and Asia. And before anyone even remotely suggests that I'm bragging about travelling a lot - okay, I'm bragging.

But seriously, I've used my American bank-issued debit card in "Third World" cities like Malacca, Malaysia. Now there's a city with absolutely no infrastructure. But you bet your bippy they take plastic! Just as long as it has the proper credentials (logos).

I hope this helps.
