Slow Fences startup on Windows 10

Slow Fences startup on Windows 10

On a fresh install of Windows 10, after installing Fences 3, I experience a very significant delay for desktop icons to appear, after logon. We are talking about 5-6 seconds which is a very bad inconvenience that should not occur. The delay is all caused by Fences, because as soon as I disable Fences entirely via Fences options, the delay disappears and desktop icons appear with 0 delay upon logon.

How to fix this?

Seriously, though, the slow loading of Fences has been an issue since Win 8. It has to do with MS startup preferences and the delay to allow apps and etc to load first.  I'm not sure if there's a fix for Win 10 as yet, but I found that double right clicking on the desktop in Win 8.1 brought Fences and the icons faster, so maybe try that until a fix is found.

you could do what I did:

disable all auto start entries and instead create a scheduled task for "c:\program files (x86)\stardock\fences\Fences.exe" /startup that triggers after login. With that methode you can workaround the autostart delay and could set your own delay because it makes no sense when fences starts before explorer.

Thank you macer2363 this is the only thing I have found that worked for me.

It seems Stardock is in no hurry to fix the problem. I was going to get a refund until I found this workaround.

Hello i just installed fences on a computer with w10 and i noticed this stating, is it still currently a problem?

the best solution is to disable the startup and create a scheduled task with each login?

Hello,

Apparently the delay was always because Windows 10 delay all 3rd party application on bootup. You can review this link for more information on this. https://www.howtogeek.com/403162/how-to-disable-the-windows-10-startup-delay/

Thank you,

ok, the solution of creating a program task for the start would also be valid?

edit:

I have not noticed difference, creating that entry in the registry setting it as a scheduled task starts faster

thanks

I have Windows 10 (OS Build 19044.2130) and upgraded to Fences 4.  It takes forever for Fences to load a startup.  What can I do to improve Fences from loading with all the icons at startup?  Please advise.
