wallpapers made to match skins and moderation (question, not a rant)

I have sort of an odd question.

Lots of times I'll make a simple five minute wallpaper, not with any detail or anything, just to have something to match a skin I made to make the screenshot before I upload the skin. Most of the walls I make for that reason I wouldn't dare upload because, even though I have automatic approval, it would not get through the moderation that the lower user level members have to go through (I try to impose the same standards on my own work). The problem with that is I usually end up getting a lot of requests for the wallpaper.

So, if a person with a lower user level was to upload a wall that was made to go with a specific skin, would it actually have a chance at getting through moderation, regardless of simplicity/lack of detail/etc? (for instance, the wall I made for my Squishy wb skin is just a gradient that I pushed around with the liquify filter to make a soft swirled {not a swirly} effect).

Just curious.

I had the same thing with my x-box wb skin. I did upload it, but because it was kind of fast made it didn't get on the site. A few people were e-mailing me with the question if I could Send them the wall. Its simpler when you add it in the zip file, witch also contains the wb file. so when somebody download your skin, they get the wallpaper with it.

But sometimes that makes the file size so large that people on a dial-up connection may have a difficult time downloading it. When I was still using dial-up I hated downloading skins over say, 300k, because I knew I would get disconnected before I finished downloading it.
Also, you can only add one size that way. On some older computers, setting a wallpaper to stretch too much slows the system down, and not everyone knows that they can usually re-size the image.

What Jafo would say and has said, it put it into your blind as a single upload.

Yes...when in doubt of a wall's 'success' just put it into the zip as a jpg of reasonable size and realistically if someone really MUST have the wall they can at least learn to convert it to bmp and/or resize it, etc.
Gives them something to do....they may even learn a little about image apps...

In short, wallpapers are all moderated the same way, wether they are made to go with a skin or not. So the available options in that case are:

  • zip up the wallpaper with the skin (as Jafo said, you can always make it a JPG to save on the download size)
  • make a Winstyle suite, including your skins and your wallpaper
  • upload your wallpaper to another site and give people the link where to get it

Sorry, but we must be fair. It would be too easy for somebody to bypass moderation just saying "But I made it to go with such and such skin".
