Snipers in DC

I live 45 minutes outside of DC. This sniper stuff really ticks me off. I've never seen anything like this. Anyone think it's al-Qaida? I don't know, but I hope they catch the SOB soon!

Normal is a misnomer. The good people who define "normal" behavior are a minority in the world at large and are therefore no longer the norm.

It may be normal to have violent thoughts, it may even be human nature. But what is not normal is to decide to enact those violent thoughts. Of course, the very concept of the "norm" ("normal") is defined by society not by nature.

Kinrik: the human species is not that old. At the most, 70,000 years.

i was kidding on the age thing...and it depends on who you ask, and then choose to believe, anyways...

It's a sad fact that the human race is still primitive. Despite all the science, technology, art and knowledge posessed by humans, the majority are no less disposed to violence than our 'uncivilised' ancestors.

ah, but who defines civilized?

when the aliens come to kill us all off with their advanced technological wonders and keep sweeping through the multiverse, will we have considered them a greater civilization than our, or lesser just because they kicked our butt first?

again, i'm kidding...

"Civilized"...what a crock. So is any being who performs any act which may be construed as "violent" (in your definition - "your" meaning anyone not "me") uncivilized? So Bob might think it was TERRIBLE to spank that kid, but Frank thinks the kid had it coming...

Again, depends on who you ask, and then who you choose to agree with, or believe.

Same thing when you ask which religion is the real one, since each says all other Gods are false and the blasphemers will rot in hell... (joking around again...calm down)

it's a sad fact that we get hung up spending time debating how intelligent, or worldly, or primitive we are, rather than getting something out of life, being productive, enjoying our families, expanding our minds.

we sure havea lot of time to type away on a keyboard and complain...

jump on 1800flowers.com and send yer girl some flowers.

check out the tide schedule for the beach to take your kid to after work.

preorder some movie tickets to take the family out or something.

go skin something

(no, Kinrik...put the cat down...that's UNcivilized )

Update...I'm not much for the death penalty...but Muhammad is scheduled for a lethal injection on Nov. 10. I confess I probably would feel different if he had killed one of my family. But I think it is a sad state of affairs when the citizens do they very thing they condemn themselves. He is captured, he is not a threat in prison. (Perhaps the inmates I guess) But I just can't find it acceptable. Now...I invite your perspectives...but BE CIVIL! There is no need to flame anyone!

He offered no mercy to his innocent victims. He deserves to die a horrible death and should have been tortured until that time. I think he's getting off lucky.

Diff. is the citizens are doing it to convicted aggravated murderer's.

Eye.... for an eye...eh ;)

Execution is reasonably cheap...which is a plus.

As long as it's slow and painful....perhaps a cumulative injection spanning several days.....maybe one shot per victim...per day would be cool.

I don't give a toss about his 'civil rights'/humanity...as he showed none towards his victim/s.

I've never been much for the "Eye for an Eye" thing. Life's not that fair. If it were we'd all be dead. A person's point of view mucks it up too much. Your "eye" might judge me a criminal...but someone else's "eye" may judge me a hero. Eventually throughout your life someone will want you dead.

In this case...the "eye" is the evidence which makes him a criminal. Hero's are judges in the same manner.

And in this case...if it happens to you you can rest assured we will "eye" him/her as a criminal and not a hero! ;)

If you murdered someone.. yeah, I'd probably judge you a criminal .. rolls eyes*
