How IRC Works
Step 1. Find a problem with some software.
Step 2. Join IRC Channel.
Step 3. Post query.
Step 4. Leave channel exactly one minute later so as to deny opportunity of being given a solution.

We all know that when it comes to 'ME' it's all about attention to 'ME'. I need immediate attention, and I will stomp my feet and pout like a 4 year old if 'ME' is not looked at or taken care of Immediately. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen MY world is MY oyster...
A perfect example:
[04:54:58p] * eric (~466f377b@64.62.228.XX) has joined #stardock
[04:55:08p] <eric> i bought start 8 from you guys
[04:55:13p] <eric> i need help installing it
[04:55:37p] * eric (~466f377b@64.62.228.XX) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[04:55:37p] <@ZubaZ1> What's the issue?
[04:55:40p] <@ZubaZ1> or not
[04:56:18p] <@ZubaZ1> 30 seconds. Not the fastest quit . . but not exactly patient either
We've all observed this behavior in IRC: Glad someone's making it public.
It has caused me to ignore IRC...and others who used to be there are no longer.
Back in the day, when hundreds of folks were there you couldn't join without someone greeting you (or making fun of you) and then trying to help out.

You mean the IR in IRC doesn't mean Instant Results?
The best option is to just come out and explain the problem in your first post......too many people start out with "hello, is anyone here?" or " I have a problem with object desktop, can you help me?" no one wants to get involved in a discussion where they may not know the answer. Post as much info as possible up front and wait at least 5-10 minutes to let people digest it and look for an answer.
one of the main downfalls was when the quote database was lost......after that we couldn't use your own words against you. ![]()
Mike, I'm sure GR's got a backup somewhere. ![]()
I've missplaced my own bot, InfoServ, or it ran away from boredom. ![]()
Managed to scrape a few quotes together myself over the years -> InfoServ @ Skinventory.dk
I may bring it back online if it comes back home some day. ![]()
word :'(
/quote love ![]()
Last quote in your DB: 669 : <@ZubaZ> I didn't realize how badly I sucked as a skinner until I tried skinning
Awesome!
I used to love IRC. Won't go near it now......
I actually still have a copy of the LickServ quotes from Kris, I just never run the bot anymore.
these need yo be shared. please forward to me!
Last time I was in IRC I got booted by Zubaz.
I've not been back since... ![]()
You haven't missed much.
And me, too. ![]()
On the IRC, the serve licks you
IT'S FULL OF STARS...
I didn't know Jafo was gonna use me as an example in the OP.....
Notice who has the most quotes, eh Zub?
Lots of old names in that bunch....a veritable who's who of skinning's past...;)
Eggsealent, kryo.
But 'only' 284 quotes?
I thought there'd be thousands. Lots of nuggets seem to be 'missing'.
Yes, there should be a heck of a lot more than those...;)
