Return of the Lag (With a Vengeance)

When the patch was released ICO was relatively lag free for about 2 days.  After those 2 days it started to get worse and return to its pre-patch state.  Now, on Sunday, May 29, 2011, the lag is just as bad (if not worse) then the pre-patch conditions.  I don't know what was fixed, but it seems to have broken down again.  I guess the new ICO was really too good to be true.

It's worse than it was before to the point where the game is almost unplayable.  They had it fixed--for two days.

To me this suggests it has something to do with the program as it runs on the server.  Some programming loop or some such gets clogged up overtime and just degenerates as time goes on.  Maybe the server needs to be rebooted once every two days, or at least the Sins program needs to be closed and reloaded once every two days.  If this could be done automatically then 6 am U.S. EST seems like a good time.

This is bullshit.

For every 2 min of the game we have 3 min of lag.

If thats haw lag fix looks on ico, i give up.

PS. have fun selling rebelion as single player expansion, cause with 1 week of this lag noone will ever play online multiplayer  any more

Let's not be too hasty, Quar.  They've demonstrated that the problem can be fixed.  Now they just need to stomp out some additional bugs.

Best comment ever on this problem.

I don't play the online part of this but I'm looking at it like this... How many companies still go out of their way to support a product THIS old? They are still trying to support it and still keeping in contact with their customer base and listening to suggestions and complaints.

Patience is what they need from our end. Granted I do admit that sometimes when the bugs are a real annoyance it is hard to remain waiting calmly...

Keep up the good work guys and thanks for all the support you give.

howdidudothat, which expansion were you trying to log in with?

I just tried logging in in diplomacy, the only issue I had was remembering the password

I can log into diplomacy now, but the lag is just completely unbareable.  We can't even set up a game.

It's really bad :-( took me 5 min to login with Diplomacy ... my buddy just upgraded and can't remember his password -_-'

We're gonna have to move our games to the Entrenchment server until this is sorted out.  It can't possibly be any worse.

just hold on till tuesday... on thier way into the office, the devs will trip over the cords of the servers, causing everything to reset, and the lag will once again be gone.

The Vanilla/Entrenchment server wasn't much better.  They've proven that it's possible for the game to run without the lag.  Now that they've fixed one problem (I think) they'll be able to move on to the next one.  Hopefully it will be smooth as silk by the time Rebellion is ready.

It's always one step at a time. They'll get there. :-) We had an awesome game with the 1.21 patch over 'LAN' by the way. Soon as ICO gets fixed my gaming crew will be on it once again.

Long weekend is a horrible time for these problems.  First time in ages I had two of my friends convinced to play...now I doubt they will want to again anytime soon :(

Tried again today, I didn't think it was possible, but the lag was even worse than it was yesterday, pathetically impressive.

I've heard back from Yarlen and Josie this morning, and they are actively working on it.  Josie hinted at some testing that has been going on.  If that means anything about balance simulations for Rebellion, I don't know.
