Patrol order ?

First i want to congratulate IronClad and Stardock to give us a such great game.
Now my question is : where is the patrol order ?
I really think a patrol order can help the player to build his defense around a planet with more efficiency than to let the ship sleeping in orbit.

We didnt feel a patrol, in the traditional sense, was necessary for the game. I recomend clicking 'tactics managment' then set the 'engagement range' to gravity well, the AI will know what to do. Or, if it is temporary, you can queue up any number of movement orders

Thanks for the answer. That's true the pathfinding AI is pretty amazing, I will try the to change the engagment range my next game
