when does a community skin become a community skin when the community is not involved? Where was the post to inivite skinners for harmoney and whitefire2?

there wasnt a post, it was created by maxstyles crew (and maybe a secret select few from the community) 

 

and yet, suddenly its a community skin?

 

to me, a community skin is when someone posts they want to make a community skin, and people are allowed to volunteer their services to the skin.  The WHOLE community knows about it....(unless they live under a rock) its not a secret and suddenly released as  community skin.

 

yet again i ask, why is maxstyles skins being promoted as community skins when its clear that they are not.

This isnt a flame against Maxstyles.....I just am totally confused.........

harmony and whitefire were concieved totally differnt, yet they are also branded as community

Harmony and Whitefire elements that had been uploaded by the persons that did them were pooled together in an article by a site mod/admin and titled as Community Skin. I'm sure the author of those articles meant that this community, the WC community, added some great elements to those two blinds. Harmony was all over the What are you working on thread. Did john say, hey, i need somebody to do this or that? No, but people contacted him and things got done. Those people are the community are they not.

Get over whatever it is up your ass about john and maxstyles already, and don't say it's not...it is and it's plain to see. Christ.

Basj, you and John have done nothing wrong. Basically this has been 'fuelled' by Kitty wanting some clarification for her own needs and she has now got it - whether she likes it or not is another matter. Reading between the lines I suspect there was more to her need for 'clarification' than she would care to admit too but we should leave it that. Neither you or John should feel bad about this and this all came about as a result of debate on another thread. Time to move on and you two need to hold your heads up as you have given a lot to the community......Kitty too

I'm fine thanks but I still don't understand what you meant by the previously quoted statement.   


Back on topic: I agree with the definition KarmaGirl and Jafo gave. So long as a significant amount of members from the community are involved in the project it's a community project.

One was an open call (the Halloween suite) and the two in question...not so much, but they were all community efforts.

Kitty, you have already pissed off the entire Maxtyles team today at least the ones I have talked to..and others, un-named going ON and ON about a minor issue. If you can't see why it may be construed that this was just a little more than the true meaning of community then I pity you.

You can hardly expect people to believe that a simple defintion that wasn't hurting anyone regardless of what it meant was worth all this do you?

Reputations are hard to build and very easy to tear down, you should think about that.
