WHY was the thread locked?

WHY was the thread locked?

Why was the 'Does anyone read the rules ?' thread locked?

What happened to no more locking threads?

What happened to all that was said, not 4 months ago?

The point is we WANT people to be able to have different opinions.

But here's the point: In an OPEN community such as ours, we have the right to disagree. Do I make myself clear: You have the right to an opinion and someone else has the right to disagree with your opinion.

I think you have every right to voice your concern.

the point isn't whether I agree or not, it is that we have an atmosphere where people feel free to voice their opinions

We want to have a community site in which people are free to *discuss* issues that concern them

close the site before I'd allow it to become a place where only "valuable members" get to have a say on how the site is run.

If someone disagrees with a policy of the site, a decision of the moderators, or has a problem with a user, let it be discussed civily and openly without someone commanding others to adhere to their demands lest they take their things and go. Because that time is over now.

There was a conversation taking place. At the very least, some people got to blow off steam, but it was a conversation with no threats that we were told we could have openly and freely in the forums.

PO' : A while ago I submitted a wall that featured 'my' version of the Deviantart logo and the 'Fella'...not cut and paste..my own interpretations. It was rejected and I recieved an email asking me to kindly get permission from DA to use the images. This happened with my 'Fella Cursor', and I got the permission and re-uploaded. With this wall, I just said the hell with it and let it go. Because I don't understand. I understand they are logo's, trademarks, copyright, etc. But, here is why I keep bringing this up.

I get frustrated when the rules seem to apply here but not there..or to this person but not that person. Are they clearly stated somewhere and I am just missing it, because I know you all have to be frustrated hearing me go on about this.

See..this is why it gets confusing...if I were to upload an ' iffy ' skin I was unsure of ...I'd simply scan WC Libraries before doing so.

But...

Just seems like you can't win either way...I know I have seen the DA " Fella " used before at WC. I have a wall by APB from 2 years ago. There are also Several Da Fella Icons etc..

i just said that depend where you take the graphics
look at his main page and the comment in the deviation his graphics are base on this one
he allow us to use it at certain condition:
"I'd love to see anything made using this.
Please leave a link in a comment if you use it"

So the only thing i said it's that in all case (not only this one) people can have some permissions to use some graphics and the role of moderators is not so simple.
Take this one how many of us knew this deviation and those of Jark (i guess some of the "olders" yes)

Then that makes it a bit more clear...the DA Fella can be used unaltered..
Which is how it was used in the links provided.

Fairyy~ i'm not a mod so it's only my thoughts and i could be wrong
as you know my english is not so good
i don't said it could be used just that things are not so simple to moderate cause you, me, mods can't know all things in this world

Your dA fella cursor shoudln't have been rejected.  Whoever rejected it was being overly zealous.

Fairyy, iI think if you are you using the fella or DA logo on 'DA" it's okay. They have a gallery/category for 'DA related' art.

I guess my question, which I honestly don't know if Jafo answered (I'm exhausted with the 'go start your own site' response when all we want is clarification) my question.

My DA wall..rejected for lack of permission.

Sports logos nixed because of trademark, copyright, etc.

DC and Marvel trademarks and logo's are fair game...until they complain.

So, why isn't everything fair game until the trademark copyright owner complains?

Thanks for the answer, Brad.

edit...

I understand that the mods can't be aware of every copyright, etc..but with the DC and Marvel stuff...I mean...they've been around for over 50 years..you know there are trademarks and copyrights involved with the images and logo's...how does the 'ignorance is bliss' approach work here?

It's not fair to the artists who work hours on some of this stuff, when it's an item-by- item-as-you-go-along decision on what you chose or not to chose to uphold someone elses rights on. It's frustrating and confusing as well.
