stardock central

skins and themes

Help. When I click on a skins library in sd central, I get a message stating there was an error downloading the selected library. Please try again. It happens no matter which library I click. Shutting down and rebooting does not help.

The libraries aren't updating either, I just figured it was another server thing, cause it seems to of only happened recently with the latest server probs.

I don't get it if it's a server problem, because my Windowblinds has updated three times in the last three days.

maybe..... different servers?

I get this behavior too. You can see chinese/korean characters too when you try and update the forum threads in the application.

Its getting overly annoying now as I counted 3 days that its been happening.

It happened on the switch to vista.

Tomorrow ill SS it.

Oh and btw, its not letting you enter serial numbers either. when you click on a product, the dialog to enter your key doesnt come up. Its like the button press is useless.

Same thing is happening to me here. I can't get any updates to the skins via SD Central and I cannot enter my registration information to Wincustomize. Yesterday I could see the libraries (although I had to click on the white area of the page to get a thumbnail view) but now nothing.

SD Central is definately NOT working well with Vista.

Ive had the same problem since yesterday also, thought it was my firewall causing it,but its not

Me two, I had it this morning but I discovered I still had two anti-virus programs registered in Security Center because yesterday I switched programs so I corrected that and came back and tried Stardock Central again, and it worked. Now it's back to not working so I guess it was unrelated to my fixing.

I was trying to download Stardock Central and it's saying that the link cannot be found.

Hmmm, I can't download SDcentral in Vista, it just comes up with a blank page. Downloaded ok in XP though, transferred it across to Vista and installed there...    Must be a web page glitch - I'm sure someone will attend to it

I don't have Vista but my libraries aren't updating either. It goes through the motion of getting skin updates but says there are none, but I haven't opened SDCentral for over a week and there are definitely skin updates. When I tried to get on the forums using SDCentral to see if anyone else was having a problem they wouldn't update either.

I haven't gotten any updated in the past three days. Everything else seems to be working and I don't have Vista!

SDC seemed to be stuck for me also after reading this - discussion doesn't really seem to be updating

Went into C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\Discussion and got rid of all the ini files - started SDC - forum updated
Reply #18 Top
Just did that and the forums are now working properly, but not the libraries

I refreshed the server list, then refreshed the xml data = apparently I haven't been doing a lot with SDC - 1193 KB of 3624 received so far, I'm on dial up

hmmm... moving out the library.ini made the library disappear even though a new one was created

cant update skins - can't view what in the list via SDC

I wrote stardock support and got the following email in reply: Hello,

Gallery support has been temporarily removed from Stardock Central and the WinCustomize browser to significantly improve the performance of wincustomize.com. You may still access skins and themes from https://www.wincustomize.com in the gallery section without a problem until this performance issue has been addressed. Because of this change, you should notice a significant improvement in stability of wincustomize.com.

We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.

Thank you,
I say we inundate them with complaints, this is not what we paid for.

As I said in the other thread, Calebrot, these problems are temporary, and you are still able to access all the resources you could through SDC/WinCBrowser.  A service is not being withheld here, since there are other methods of accessing them.  I understand your frustration, but inciting a protest likely wont help the situation.  Stardock is clearly aware of the problem, and is taking steps to fix it.

Well I have better things to do with my life than searching through twenty different galleries to obtain skin updates, rather than obtaining them in one place. It's always something new with Stardock.

This?  Good start, for sure... hope it'll help you hold out

I emailed stardock and got the same reply from them as well.
