America: Freedom to Facism

America: Freedom to Facism

I strongly urge anyone who cares about this country to watch this movie. Unlike Michael Moore's partisan and politically motivated movies, Aaron Russo is able to look at the very serious issues facing our nation with objectivity, as a concerned citizen.

From IMDb: "A documentary that explores the connection between income tax collection and the erosion of civil liberties in America."

The conclusion will leave the uninitiated gasping for breathe, as Mr. Russo connects the dots from the formation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 to the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. and REAL ID acts of this century, all the while painting a vivid and frightening picture of who the true enemies of Freedom are.

"Stop being good Republicans. Stop being good Democrats. Start being good Americans."

Considering the insults and nation-bashing flying around in between the handful of civil posts, this discussion should be taken to JoeUser. I'd rather not have anyone get riled up further and do something they'll regret.

kryo,

Just a calm observation: You're showing up in riot gear long after the battle is over.

I think this thread died around response #70. Just lock it up.

The nationalism post is actually a good response to Mumblefez's

ShuShu, from your profile it appears you've been a member for quite some time, though it appears it's just recently that you've begun posting metaverse games and here in the forum. Anyway let me welcome you to the GC2 community even if you have been here longer that I have.

In general, the intentional misspelling of someone's screen name is taken as an insult, so I'll assume that yours was just a mistake. Actually, I find it very difficult to be offended by what in reality are just words on my computer screen, but that's just the kind of guy that I am. But please in the future refer to me as Mumblefratz or you may call me Mumble for short.

From your personal icon, I assume that you're either a woman or just wish you were. If you are a woman, you're a fairly rare breed in the male dominated gaming community, and I salute you. If you're not, regrettably you're actually not all that rare. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Say, for example, we choose a moron to lead us (any examples come to mind?),

A fine example of a biting wit. I do appreciate a biting wit in a woman, though sometimes it seems the biting part does tend to outweigh the wit part.

Mumblefez's can't we all jest get along Cumbaya soliloqy

I am sorry, but I do need to take offense here. I'm not Rodney King and that wasn't the point of my initial post. The point was that political posts generate animosity and solve nothing. If you don’t like it or agree you can take the original poster’s screen name and remove the “Lord”.

With that little bit of unpleasantness over, you’ll find that I don’t hold grudges and I hope that any future interchange between us can be amicable.

Mumble,

Put the crack pipe down. Even factoring the possibility that CariElf has friends here, the probability that ShuShu is a woman is approximately equal to the probability that your real name is Martin Luther.

Judging on icons is insane. Besides, Shu's icon looks weird. Is that blood on the forehead?

Are you kidding me? All I do is appear small and cloaked, possibly holding a sword. That's like... my thing dude.

You're telling me you're NOT a smiley faced ball? I can't work with you people. Cut his mic.

Put the crack pipe down.

Wheel, first Evil Stormbringer, and now you, beginning to show a bit of maturity and restraint. It looks as if my master plan is starting to come to fruition. However, you do have to admit that it's a bit of the pot calling the kettle black.

Also you should look up the word subtle, because apparently you don't understand it. You misconstrue one usage of it and apparently miss the other two. But overall, I don't want to insult you because I do want to encourage you in your new found maturity.

By the way, I chose Martin Luther as my personal icon because the image of a dour old german is one that suits me, not because I'm in any way religious. Someone who choses the image of a little girl (even if she does have blood on her forehead) *is* either a woman or wishes they were. I'll leave it up to you to determine the relative odds of those options.

I couldn't seem to edit my last post, but the only thing I want to add is that any further insults or misconceptions of my posts will be ignored because I for one do not want to face the wrath of Kryo and I've already pressed my luck far enough.

Editing posts seems to be a hit-or-miss affair lately. Dunno what's up.
I got a good laugh out of the "wishes she was a woman" part.

By the way, "put the crack pipe down" is harmless (by American standards) slang. I think my capability for ill will is undisputed. Along with my lack of subtlety, you'd know it when I'm aiming to cause trouble.

Your luck is safe. Marcathonas and I will continue to set the standards of irresponsible, aggressive and insulting posts.

As Cauldyth is back, I'm obligated to insult somebody. It will be him.

Cauldyth, glad you're back, you fraktard Canuck.

Wheel, I'll risk one more post just to say I didn't take any part of *your* post as an insult (BTW I live in Concord, MA which is part of America, I think ). It looked to me that you were trying to calm me down with respect to ShuShu, which is what I thought was funny.

By the way, there are many different types of insults ranging from just mean spirited to tongue-in cheek funny. The problem is that when you’re the target, it’s sometimes difficult to tell the difference. But I do think I’m seeing a change in your insults from the former to the latter. This, plus what appeared to me as your willingness to step in and calm things down when you see them getting out of hand, is a change I’d like to encourage.

Also, I want to say that I was in no way angry with ShuShu, it's just that you have to lay down before you can be a doormat, and that's one thing I'm *not* willing to do.

Today, most of our leaders are corporate heads. All that is left is for the government to declare that representation will now come from corporate CEO's.

I think this is already the case. They don't need to come out and say it but all of us know that the Corporations/Industrial Military Complex run our government/policies.

Wow, I missed a lot yesterday... I feel kind of left out on that one Wheeloffire
And Mumblefratz... I don't think I've ever seen you let loose like that. And as far as ShuShu's icon or whatever, I just thought it was freaky. The first thing I thought of was a child molester since it appears to be a little girl covered in body paint. Now I know even if I were a proud parent, I don't think I would put up a pic like that except as maybe email to family.
ShuShu's icon was the least of the points I made. I'm kind of disappointed that no one has apparently noticed what I meant by taking "lord" out of the OP's screen name. It kind of wrecks the joke to have to explain it. Oh well, pearls before swine.

The point is if someone wants to make fun of me for trying to be a reasonable and calming influence on a thread that has the potential of becoming ugly, then I'll show them that I too am capable of sarcasm and insult. It's now up to ShuShu as to which side of me he/she/it prefers (note that I did avoid using Sushi, it’s just too obvious).

I understood what you were getting at Mumblefratz, it was just suprising to see from you. For some as yet not understood reason I find that it angers me somewhat when I see someone else attempting to bash on you, for yes, you are the voice of reason amongst stormy heads. But trust me, I understand your humor and what you were attempting to do. I am one who likes to take the low, middle, and high ground if you wish to look at it like that. I can think like the most brilliant physicist or the most lowly crackhead... it just depends on the fodder at hand, know what I mean
Actually, I've been waiting for some good topics to pop up but so far, aside from the pirate issue, I have seen none
Oh, and good morning to all!

Sorry to leave you out, Evil.

Mumble, Sushi isn't a normal member. I'll expand on Evil's point and say that if you have nephews and nieces, you wouldn't think of putting up a whack icon like that even under an anonymous name.

Cauldyth, I shot your moose, slaughtered it and now I'm making moose jerky for healthy, 97% fat free protein for the next twelve months.

Thank you.

Well,

I see there is a lot to respond to here. Mumble, no insult intended with the name. When you are as old as I am, these small characters on a screen are not always clear. Also, no insult to you personally, as a matter of fact, I respect your forum personna. I almost joined the ORCA's as a result of it.

I do have disdain for the Cumbaya mentality that elected our current president back before he decided the world was an evil place. I also feel the Star Trek New Generation image of cooperation is a little naive and worthy of some derision. Even so, I did only spend one sentence deriding it.

ShuShu is Uncle in chinese.

You are all correct, I am not normal, I am Scott's Irish, hence explaining my Celtic daughter's clearly genetic proclivity to go to war wearing nothing but face paint. She currently projects out to be 6'4'' 220 so remember that Icon when you see her playing in the women's NCAA's. She'll be the one wearing face paint, and maybe even clothes.

ES, I would never claim to be able to think like a brilliant Physisist, but that may be because I graduated with an Ivy league Physics degree 20 years ago, so I know how smart those guys really are.

It is nice to see how, my post proved many of the points made in this thread. I seem to have qualified as the External Invader that unifies the board. But although unified, The divisions present prior to my posting were still eveident after identifying a common target.

Finally, Mumble, I think you proved my point better than I could. Compare your response to insults that were not there to my response to insults that were. Folks who point to wars as eveidence than man will never cooperate, miss the fact that man has always cooperated, especially in times of war. (think cold war). This is a strength, not weakness of humanity.
miss the fact that man has always cooperated,

No they haven't, get your facts right. During wars, we bicker over who is leader. Why do wars happen? because we don't cooperate.

The fact that we have wars at all is a point against what you say.
Now, Wheel, I said I *did* avoid the term sushi. It *is* insulting to make fun of a screen name that way. As far as I can tell ShuShu is a *normal* member, but even if that's not the case ShuShu deserves the respect that *all* members deserve (even you   ).

Compare your response to insults that were not there to my response to insults that were.

I glad you responded, and based on your response it's clear that the insult was not intended, but I still maintain that the insult was there, intended or not. It wasn’t the name that offended me, the "let's just all get along Cumbaya" thing *is* demeaning and denigrating even though it's now clear it wasn't meant that way. I had done nothing but try to be reasonable and accommodating throughout the entire thread, but I have no wish for that to be taken as a sign of weakness, which is why my response was rather strong.

Prior to your response, the entirety of my knowledge of you consisted of the 6 sentences in your initial post in this thread. Your response has increased my knowledge by approximately 350% (21 sentances/6 = 3.5). I know what you mean by Scott’s Irish being not normal, my wife is Scottish and Swedish. Talk about being able to pinch a penny from both sides of the family, but actually an excellent quality in a wife (besides being gorgeous as I’m sure your daughter will be when grown). Anyway, hopefully we now understand each other better and can “just all get along”.

BTW I didn't take the fact that you almost joined the Orca's because I'm a Diplomat as an insult either.

Plus with a daughter that young, I doubt you're as old as I am. But if you are over 54 than even more congratulations are in order.
So I need to apologize about the Orca's thing to. It appears my memory fails as well as my eyesight, and at the tender age of 44. What is to become of me? Well at least I won't see it coming and won't remember how much better things used to be.

Funny, I thought the not normal part of being scotts Irish was the propensity to go to war wearing only body paint, partying at funerals, and a strange marriage of ingenuity/insanity. I Like the image of frugality being the abnormal element in that melange.

A key sign of weakness is worrying about seeming weak, which is why your response suprised me. You have nothing to fear in that regard.

I disagree with you that the 'lets all get along cumbya thing' is demeening and denegrating. In fact I still think it accurately depicts your life view, as you yourself have portrayed it. You are a voice of moderaation. Your original post was trying to steer the conversation away from imflamatory remarks. And your point of view seems to be that people should learn to cooperate more. I would have expected you to have defended the position rather than throw it under the bus.

FYI, I have a lot of respect for Rodney King for having made that statement. He's clearly never going to be the sharpest pencil in the pack, but that statement effectively stated what needed to be said at that time and place. My disdaiin is for the misapplication of the statement, not the statement itself.

Having you abandon the position actually made it harder to get my point accross that not all cooperation is benign and that aggressive competition is often part of cooperation. I believe you owe Marcathonas (copy and pasted to ensure correct spelling) an apology, because he clearly didn't get my point as a result.

The only area where your respect is questioned is in proper use of the English language.

Stop abusing it and nobody will question your level of respect for anything.
