Modding Techs

Can't seem to get this one to work.

In the past, I have been succesful with creating and implementing my own technologies, but when I had the idea of making techs to further the increse of damage of a particular weapon, I cannot get the effects I want.

For example, I created a tech called "Energy Enhancement" to improve the individual damage of beam weaponry. With this tech it would add +1 to the base beam rating (all beam weapon components added) of all ships without the need of adding another weapon component. So if a ship had four Laser V components which add to a total of 4 beam damage, this technology would allow it to instead have 5 beam damage without the need of another component. In the end, I planned on having about 3-5 techs adding additional base rating for each of the weapon types and perhaps something similiar to their corresponding defensive techs.

If anyone could provide insight on how to make this work, I would be thrilled to know.

you cant add to a particular technology. if you want to increase "weapon ability," do so, but to increase just all beam by +x is not possible.

you can make techs, i've been making a few for my saiyan race, they work, but i'm not sure how you would go about increasing the weapons, have you tried looking at other techs that do that, or if not, look and the drives, as they increase speed of all ships, so maybe just change the parameters.

it sounds like what you want to do is make a tech that boosts all your beam offenses by +1, regardless of what the ship's offense is before that?

i don't think it's currently possible.
