Black interface color

if you select your interface color to be black you cannot see most of the buttons in the game (such as the focus button)

Setting the background black in a SPACE game is not generally a good idea, its best to select the off" black" color it gives on the pallet

Reminds me of the controls inside of the spaceship when they left the Planet at the End of the Universe and found it was pre-programmed to head straight into the sun.

actually it was my roomate who did it... and he had to start the game over because it was unplayable and impossible to change within the game... This is a bug!

a bug that it let him point the weapon at his foot in the first place?

or a bug that there's no way to regenerate the limb from within the game?

Any key? What keys the any key?

well it would be nice if the interface color could be changed in mid-game, as overly bright colors (such as the drengin red) tend to be annoying, and real dark colors become... erm... invisible.

What's the problem really?
It's not like you play a hundred turns and suddenly discover 'oh my god, I can't see any buttons!!!!!!!!'

I think it would be nice if all the colours could be changed in mid-game. One time, I picked a shade of violet for my custom race's colour that made it too dark to see the influence borders on the map,and if I could have lightened it in game, that would have been nice. Other times, I've picked a shade of blue that was perfectly fine, except that I've ended up with that annoying large blue nebula background that makes blue colours impossible to see, and I'd like to be able to pick a new colour for my race then.

yeah, i've picked too-dark or unlucky influence colors too. being able to change would indeed be nice.

While we're on the subject of colours...

I can never tell the difference between Iconians and the Korx. If they start off next to each other, I find I have to eliminate one early on to save on my confusion!

actually... it WAS... it was his first game and he had no idea those buttons existed until i told him "hi... you are missing buttons, they are invisible because you choose black interface color"

I just verified that this is still not fixed!

Well, live and learn.
It's not like he had his money or his life riding on that one game.

I found the bug - it's between the monitor and the seat.

Seriously, just restart the game with a different color .

There is nothing to fix. It is not a bug.
It was a user error due to inexperience, nothing more.

Planet at the End of the Universe

Restaurant. The planet was long gone, the restaurant got built on it's remains.

This is a bug!

Most definately! An I-D-Ten-T error if there ever was one!

Seriously, if you don't have common sense, it's not the programmers at fault. Yes, a "change during game" option would be nice. But it's not a bug.

I prefer white as my race color (interface I usually put at green). No one has white, and it shows up great on the mini map.

Look, its really simple, if black is the interface color, then it needs an outline, or the buttons should be made lighter. Yes yes its fun and cool to make fun of people instead of admitting there is a problem, we get it, har har!

I don't see why this shouldn't be fixed just to exasperate anyone who wants a black interface, there is nothing inherantly stupid about wanting your interface to be black and its not the user's fault. And how exactly do you live and learn when you can even see what buttons you are missing?
You live and learn by learning from your mistakes so they will not happen again.
If black does not work well, don't use it next time.

I tried a very dark color early on, and found it did not work well with this particular interface because so much of it is black. So I set a little brighter color. Easy.

And when you say, it should be fixed, you are really saying, it should be changed.
Because to fix something, it has to be broken first. This is not broken, it just doesn't work the way you want it to work.

no, it doesn't work at all. if you make it black half the interface does not appear at ALL. For example, the buttons for focusing production on a planet do not show up, etc.

yeah i tryied it with black and half way though the game one of my planets revolted because i couldn't see the borders of my empire

List of bugs:
Overheating video cards causing CTDs.
CTDs on older drivers due to a lack of recent directX.
Code causing the AI selection level to not work, setting all AI intelligences to be fool.

Ok, a BUG is a problem with the coding that has averse unexpected effects. THIS IS NOT A BUG. GET OVER IT.

This is a USER issue. Yes, a black interface doesn't work. Does it cause your computer to reformat while screaming "D000000000M!"? No? then it's not a bug. Move it to the correct forum subsection.

You are wrong, plain and simple.

It does show up, and the buttons show up, and if you click in the correct spot it will do what it is supposed to do.

But the effect of black on black is, what???
BLACK?

It is designed to show over BLACK. OVER black. Not through it, not under it, not beside it - OVER it.

What is so hard to understand? There is no bug but the one in your own brain.
