My ten cents worth ... if all other Stardock applications disappeared except ObjectDock Plus, I'd be a pretty happy customer. No disrespect to the other desktop customisation apps, but OD+ is the only app I still feel I can't do without. I'd gladly pay an extra $10 on the upgrade price if the new version did not reply on Impulse (never a more inappropriate name). There's no doubt Vista and now Windows 7 have cut into the "need" for the eye-candy apps, but OD+ is only slightly less useful

Same thing happened to me when I tried to update WindowBlinds 7 beta last night. Impulse said my registration wasn't valid (I have Object Desktop sub). When I verified the install it said it was invalid. I uninstalled WB7 and 12 hours later it still wouldn't appear in Impulse. Did the "Reset data" trick and it is back (and installed). So, if anyone was in the same boat as me (uninstalled WB7), you'll still need to do a Reset Data in Impulse - even though the servers have been kicked :-)

hottesttodday - Thanks for the confirmation. For my use of Outlook it really is a show-stopper. Shame. I've been an Object Desktop subscriber for quite a while and - since Vista - have only had brief periods where I've been able to use the skinning apps. The one product I use daily is ObjectDock and it's so handy that it has justifed my subscription! Yes, fingers crossed that a fix is coming. While WindowBlinds is not nearly as enticing in Vista and Windows 7, I still want it!

Running Windows 7 RC 7100 x64 with ATI Radeon 4850 video and 9.8 Catalyst drivers. Thanks TeeggerToo! I've just built a new box running Vista Ultimate x64. Video card is Radeon HD4850. Yesterday I installed Impulse and rather rashly installed pretty much all of my OD Ultimate apps. The last thing installed was IconPackager 4.10.172. I applied several MyColors themes, then ran WindowBlinds. High CPU use on Vista Ultimate. On Vista Ultimate, CPU usage jumps to 30 to 40% as soon as CursorFX is enabled. Sysinternals Process Explorer shows this is mostly due to Tabtip.exe which jumps to 30%. CursorFX itself uses up to 10%. After Ctrl+Shift+V, the combined CPU of these two processes returns to near zero. I have a Wacom tablet so need tabtip.exe. A Google search came up with an old post saying that CursorXP has the same issue on the Tablet edition of Windows XP.

Hi BX. Yeap thanks, I'm fine with the download. As mentioned above this is an issue with registering CursorFX in SDC. The new product is available in the list (under "Misc"), but cannot be registered in SDC with either serial. Guess the download link will have the latest version, but not easy to tell if it's been updated. I'm sure Stardock will fix this in the New Year.

On my Vista Ultimate, Sysinternals Process Explorer shows that Tabtip.exe jumps to very high CPU usage (up to 30%) when CursorFX is running. CursorFX itself uses up to 10% CPU, so a real problem. I think you're absolutely right that this is something that was also in CursorXP. A Google search came up with an old post saying that on the Tablet edition on Windows XP the same problem occurs. It's called Stardock Genuine Advantage ;) I encountered the exact same issue and emailed Stardock Support a few days ago. Hopefully they're all taking a Christmas break so (due to time differences) it'll be at least 3 days before I hear back. However, so far as I can tell all the Plus features are there and the software isn't asking me to register, so it appears to be purely a SDC issue. After purchasing CursorFX Plus last night and installing it on Vista Ultimate, I've found my PC very sluggish. Toggling CursorFX with Ctrl+Shift+V shows that the cause is a combination of CursorFX CPU usage at around 5 to 10% and Tabtip.exe which rockets to 20 to 30%. Switching CursorFX off returns Tabtip.exe back to "0%". I do have a Wacom tablet so need to be running tabtip.exe. Aside from this "killer" issue, CursorFX looks cool.

I think most of us put our own wallpaper on the desktop partly because we think our pictures look better than the stock wallpaper, but mostly to mark it as "my PC". An animated wallpaper is most likely going to be someone else's as it takes more graphics skills to produce a pretty looping movie. The other obvious thing is that many of us don't spend a heck of a lot of time with an empty desktop. My two screens at home are almost always mostly covered with applications, and the same at work. Me too. I've tried several skins and the bug remains. The only extra I have is the Agendus plugin for Outlook. Video card is nVidia 7600GT. The other app that I've got problems with is ThumbsPlus 7. The caption bar is invisible for dialogs and - with some skins - for the main window.
