WB 7 beta 2: Unusable Outlook 2007 "Move To" and "Copy To" dialogs

Running Windows 7 RC 7100 x64 with ATI Radeon 4850 video and 9.8 Catalyst drivers.

I've encountered this problem since the start on the WB 7 betas: when I use "Move To Folder" from the message ribbon-bar, the resulting dialog renders just fine (displaying the list of recently used Outlook folders). However if I select "Other Folder" or "Copy to Folder" from the list, the resulting dialog is unusable. Only the icons in the folder-tree are displayed. All the folder names are blank. If I click just to the right of a folder-icon, a rectangle about 1 character wide is highlighted. Folders with unread items do however display the number of unread items in blue (e.g. "(5)").

I've tried excluding Outlook from being skinned, and tried various themes. None of these steps makes a difference. Sadly, this is a significant issue and means I cannot use WB. My hope is for Skin Studio to come out soon and allow me to tweak something so the folder dialogs are again usable.

I have validated the installation. It's quite possible that some other dialogs are similarly affected, but I've not spotted any.

The problem seems to affect all of the "select a folder"-type windows in the Office 2007 suite. For instance, folder names are missing on the "Folders" tab of the Internet Email Settings dialog in Outlook 2007. Fortunately, I don't need to change these particular settings very often and can just disable WindowBlinds momentarily when making changes. But still, it's a hassle. Hopefully Stardock will issue a fix.

hottesttodday - Thanks for the confirmation. For my use of Outlook it really is a show-stopper. Shame. I've been an Object Desktop subscriber for quite a while and - since Vista - have only had brief periods where I've been able to use the skinning apps. The one product I use daily is ObjectDock and it's so handy that it has justifed my subscription! Yes, fingers crossed that a fix is coming. While WindowBlinds is not nearly as enticing in Vista and Windows 7, I still want it!

This problem has not only an impact on Outlook 2007 but also on many other applications such as eBay TurboLister, etc...

We have reproduced this and it should be solved in the next beta update.

That is good news then today I found a bunch of other important applications, important for me, that suffer from the same problem: the ProDAD video effects plugins for Avid Liquid 7 and Pinnacle Studio 14.

The problem is not solved in the latest beta update :-(

I don't believe there has been a WB update since I posted.  If there was it may well have been a minor restage to help those who are having problems with installing via Impulse.

An easy way to tell is to check the version number WB is showing in About WindowBlinds.  The build should be 208 or higher for the fix to be in.

This morning I got a WB update via Impulse, V6.80 Beta. But my WB shows build 205. So, you are right.

I have the same problem if I select a Message in OUTLOOK 2007 to move to or create a rule it just shows the Icons no text. If I want to see text I have to Install the Widows default skin areo then everything works fine

I have also checked ebay turbo lister and the app looks fine here.

Are you able to provide instructions on how to reproduce it?

I also tried the ProDAD standalone apps which broke rendering in all apps (with or without WB running) on Windows 7.

Ebay Turbo Lister has the same symptoms has outlook 2007 had before. The outlook 2007 problem is solved now.

The ProDAD problem was not caused by WB! ProDAD has a service patch now which solves the problem (it was a problem with windows 7, not with WB).

Now there is another problem! After installing WB v6.80 BETA 081 some programs like Pinnacle Studio 12 and 14 report not to be compatible with Windows 7 and switch to the basic GUI. Outlook 2007 crashes when opening an e-mail message. Reverting to WB v6.80 BETA 075 by using system restore cures all the problems.

Can you provide instructions on how to see the issue in Ebay Turbo Lister please.

The issue with the newer beta causing Outlook to be upset is known and the next build will fix that.

Thanks for the upcoming fix for Outlook.

In Turbo Lister open an article, either an active or an archived one. All text is missing in the form and on the buttons. On a Windows 7 virtual machine (VMware 6.5) without WB this problem doesn't occur.

Neil, I did some further investigations on eBay Turbo Lister. I deinstalled and reinstalled on my Windows 7 machine. However, I installed it in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and run it in the same mode. Now it works. So, it was not a WB problem.
