Thanks for the reply. That explains what I am also experiencing with Windowsblinds losing transparency. Bummer, I didnt expect Aero features to work completely, but I figured with the same basic OS kernel and the same hardware I wouldnt lose features in WinFX and WB upgading to Vista.

Yeah, if this was a desktop, I would just upgrade the card (Wintel's goal anyway). But, this is a Tablet PC. I expected to not have Aero - I am fine with that, but I mistakenly thought I would have the same features with the same hardware on the newer OS that I had on the older one. I may just put the Tablet back to XP and upgrade my XP Media Center at home to Vista instead - although I like what MS did with the Tablet features in Vista. Hmmmmm... decisions...
My Gateway M275 running WinXP (Intel 82852/82855 Video) used to handle transparency effects very nicely. Upon upgrading to Vista, I expected to not be able to use the Aero flip and such, but I was surprised to find that WB can longer render transparency or blur effects. I am guessing this is a limitation of the Vista driver - is there any known way to get these back? I dont care about the Aero features much, but I would like to be able to run my WB skins that use transparency.
After upgrading to Vista, in WinFX, under performance advice, I get "Your drivers report they fully support the APIs required by WindowFX, but the registry appears to have this disabled" Is there a way to override this registry setting? I know I probably cant run Aero, but I would at least like to have the same functionality I had in WindowsXP. I also am unable to display any of the transparency features in WindowBlinds that I had in XP.
