I see no way to update my original post, so I am replying to it. After posting, I rebooted my PC and when it came back up, the desktop was restored. The following information may be useful to developers: I actually installed version 3.1.3.3 yesterday. At the end of the install, when Fences asked me if I wanted to reboot, I said no. Since I always shutdown at the end of the day, I figured the update would be completed the next morning, when I started up my PC.

I just installed version 3.1.3.3 (I was previously running version 3.0.9.11). After reboot, my desktop is empty. All icons have disappeared. Even the recycle bin icon has disappeared, and I cannot restore it. I do not have the Pages feature enabled. I double clicked the desktop, so I know Fences aren't temporarily hidden. My Desktop folder (D:\Users\John\Desktop) is intact, so I haven't lost any files, folders, or shortcuts. They're just not being displ
That's a very nice feature. I didn't realize it existed. Also in the "Layout features and snapshots" tab, there's a checkbox "When I plug in a new primary monitor, move my icons to it." The box is checked by default. I unchecked the box and it does exactly what I want. The Fences on display 2 remain on display when I switch display 1 back to windows. Problem solved! Thanks.
I have a two-display setup on Windows with Fences on both displays. I use an HDMI switch so that display 1 can be shared with a Mac. This lets me switch the main display between Mac and Windows. I have Fences on both displays. When I switch the display 1 to Mac and then back to Windows, the Fences on display 1 are unaffected. But the Fences on display 2 move from display 2 to display 1, and I have to move them back. Is there any way to tell the display 2 Fences to re
Thank you. That was the problem. When I disabled desktop pages, the two hidden fences reappeared.
Let me start by saying that I love Fences! This has happened three times in the last two weeks on two different PCs. It never happened before that. It may be related to the Windows 20H2 update. All three times, it happened while I was rearranging (dragging and dropping) desktop icons. It has happened with individual icons (outside any fence) and it has happened when moving an entire fence. When it happens, all icons (or fences) disappear except fo
