basj. That is certainly a workaround and I thank you as I did not think of that. However, it doesn't explain why I have the problem in the first place, or actually resolve that issue. I did not have that problem with my prior Windows 11 version. The old Windows 11 Pro was actually an upgrade to my previous Windows 10 Pro, which in turn was an upgrade of my previous Windows 8 Pro version, so I don't know if that explains anything. I don't like not knowing why some

I recently installed a new 2tb NVME SSD Boot Drive in my first M.2 slot, and decided to do a new install of Windows 11 Pro. This obviously meant I had to re-install all my software including Start11 and Fences 4. The PC is running just fine except with a problem I have with Fences 4. Although most of my icons are within Fences (where I have no problem) there are a few icons separately on the desktop, including 8 icons on the right side of the screen. If the PC goes t
I am running Fences 4 on a clean install of Windows 11 Pro, and it is working perfectly. Originally I did the Windows 11 upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro and had many problems such that I decided to do the clean install of Windows 11 Pro. After doing the upgrade for instance, Fences 3 did not work properly. I would click on configure Fences, and nothing would happen. My existing Fences worked okay, but I could not create any new ones. Other software
I have recently upgraded from Fences 3 to Fences 4, but the version number of Fences 4 is 3.9.8.44. Have I downloaded the correct version as I would have expected the version number to be 4.x.x.xx
I have now had to do a clean install of windows 11, and after installing Fences 3 it seems to be working as it should. Thank you for your help
Thank you Neil for your help. I feel such an idiot, because the settings are there just like you said. I recently had to do a clean install of windows 11, as some of my software did not work properly after upgrading windows 10 to windows 11. Doing the reinstall of start11 I must have missed those settings. I am very grateful.
Since latest Start11 update I have found the following changes I dislike. When I used to right click the start button I used to get the tall Windows11 menu with for example able to choose task manager. This is now a short menu with Configure Start11, Run, open File Explorer, Open Task Manager and Shutdown. When I right clicked anywhere on an empty area of the task bar, I used to get the old menu, including Task Manager. Now I just get Windows 11 Taskbar settings.
Hi Basj. Have set up a new administrator local account and install failed with same results. Then did a clean boot using the admin account and still failed. In each case I did a purge and reinstall. Not sure what to do next, other than continue with the partial fences I have or to do a clean install of windows 11. I do not really want to do the latter because there will be so much software to install.
Hi Basj. I followed the link and purged fences, then uninstalled and reinstalled using the latest download file. It started installing and then came up with a warning message 'Break point has been reached'. It then continued to install and asked me to reboot the system. After reboot, Fences did not work although the settings menu did appear. 'Configure Fences' did not appear at the top of the right click menu on the desktop. If I clicked on Fences in
Hi DeanosT. I understand now, but am unable to follow, as nothing happens when I click on 'Configure Fences'. I am unable to get to the Fences Settings menu. Thank you AzDude, I will follow your link and hopefully that will resolve. I will report back.

Hi Basj and DeanosT. Thanks for your input. Basj. If I follow the link and purge Fences, does that mean that I have to start again from scratch when I reinstall Fences. I really do not wish to have to create all the Fences again, and allocate the 100 shortcuts to them. DeanosT. I am unclear on your suggestion to right click on windows and disable Fences. Can you be more specific, as when I right click on the desktop there is no option
Hi Basj. When running Windows 10, I had 9 fences lined up across the top of the desktop. Within those fences I probably had about 100 application shortcuts. I upgraded to Windows 11 by using a Windows 11 Installation Media disc where the files where downloaded from Microsoft. This upgraded my Windows 10 system, leaving all the software and data intact, rather than a clean install. Now when starting the desktop it loads without showing any of the 9 fences.
I have upgraded to the stable version of Windows 11 from Windows 10. Fences does not load properly at start-up, but if I right click on the desktop Fences appears, and works properly until I do a fresh start-up on the computer.
I have exactly the same problem after upgrading to Windows 11. Worked perfectly in Windows 10, but will not now appear until I right click the desktop. Have checked all the above resolutions and none work. Every setting discussed is enabled as suggested. Any suggestions please?
I installed Start11 whilst still running Windows 10. Then upgraded to Windows 11, and Start11 appears to be running exactly as before with one exception. There was an option in the settings for you to chose the icon for the Start button, and I had changed it to look like the old Windows 7 icon. That option no longer appears, and I cannot find a way to change the start button icon. Can anyone advise. If it is not possible can this be considered for a future
