I too am looking to upgrade my Steam version of Fences to the official website version. I am considering asking for a Refund. Because i -must- have Steam installed and running in order for fences to function. I am unhappy with my purchase because of this. I did not expect a game-service like steam to hijack the rights of my desktop experience. Is there a way to upgrade my license from steam to pure non-steam Fences?
