Have the issue too, since I just upgraded to Win11 Pro last month. Windows explorer keeps resetting while showing this message, and only option is to shutdown/restart, then same issue recurs. Only option was to restore my backup image of a previous date. Worked for a week, and it happened again yesterday. After restoring again my image backup, and reading suggestions, I was able to disable Fences. After Windows finishes starting up, I re-enabled Fences again and
Hi, were you able to solve this from your end? I'm having the same issue (Win 11 Pro 22000.438, Fences 3.1.3.3), and most of the time I cannot run anything as Windows Explorer keeps resetting, so I always have to restart, or restore my backup image. After restoring my backup image recently, I was able to disable Fences and Windows seems to be fine again. Perhaps some incompatibility issue has been found/addressed already? Thanks.
+1, I second this feature! Aside from less clutter, this will also allow smaller Title widths, while maintaining wider widths for the window (particularly for those that roll-up). Now, the title widths have to be the same as the window.
Thanks. I have checked your links. I don't use any multi-monitor apps. I also tried the suggestion to restore snapshot when they swap, but nothing changes. I also have it set already to 'per screen resolution...'. The only other option I see is resetting Explorer w/c I will try when it happens again. I will try powering off my primary monitor now and observe, and post an update.
Hi, With a dual monitor (Primary: 2560x1440, Second: 1920x1080), many times before leaving my PC while it's running stuff, I turn off the power of my larger monitor just to save power (& heat). When I return and turn back power on primary, all fences from both monitors swap (ie. those on primary move to secondary, and vice versa). I need the fences on my secondary so when I run certain games full screen on primary, I can easily reach for other apps placed on the second
Quick question though, since it allows having the title bar at the bottom when the window is at the top of the screen, perhaps the feature in reverse can be added (ie. if the window is brought to the bottom of the screen, title bar is inverted and put at the bottom, then have the window roll upwards).
Quoting basj, reply 15 I don't think that would work. Fences only shift the title bar down when its at the top edge of the monitor. And it will switch back to top if its move anywhere else. Thank you, Basj, Stardock Community Assistant So it's only the title bar that moves up.

Yes, that works. But how do I position it at the bottom of my screen, while still having it set to roll upward? This only allows rolling up if the title bar is at the top of the monitor screen, but switches immediately when I move it downward, as I want to position it at the bottom of the screen.
This doesn't work for me. Expanded the bottom of the window all the way to the bottom of the screen but it doesn't change orientation and still keeps the title bar at the top and rolls downward.
I solved the problem I was having. In Task Manager I selected startup tab then I started disabling things and after reboot, I noticed a Fences settings on the list. I just enabled it and the problem went away after another boot. Easy fix without the drastic measures.
Thanks. This worked in my case as well.

Didn't work here. Run the purge script, reinstalled, restarted, but the same thing. I have to right-click the mouse to have my icons & Fences show/start up.
Thanks... but what should affect this? I don't see anything related to start-up at boot, except 'Always show icons at startup' which I have enabled.
At bootup (Win 10 - 1803), my icons don't show up (nor Fences), until I right-click the mouse when my desktop appears to refresh and then start showing my icons and Fences. I tried waiting a long time but it never started until the mouse right click. Perhaps someone experienced this? Any ideas?
Hello, Quoting sherpa25, reply 24 Thanks. Just to clarify, when you say 'Steam is required...', is it only required for first time installation, or do I have to be logged-in into Steam the whole time I'm using my PC (and hence using Fences)? <
