But you can fix the lost character issue by other solutions like blocking/capturing the character input and re-sending it when the windows search is activated. I am a programmer so please don't tell me that it's impossible.

No. It's not. I was very excited when I saw the changelog and immediately upgraded. But no improvement at all. The same issue even today.
I still face this issue in stable version too. I have even tried waking cortana every minute using "plmdebug.exe" utility. Still had same problem.
There was one bug I found which I have fixed. It is supposed to add for support Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Shift+Tab and Ctrl+W (for closing tab). You can try the latest version. Maybe it works.
Here is a basic script I managed to write today (Not the best quality code) https://gist.github.com/VarunAgw/5fa6defe1a871f819f265461d5d23dd6
I love them. But the product only comes with 2 of them. The online option doesn't have any such filter. Is there any way to download more "Hybrid dreams"?
I tried "Purging and re-installing" but it didn't work. I noticed CPU usage will lower down as soon as I unload Start10 using "Start10tweak.exe". Regarding the clean boot, the link http://sd.stardock.com/Support/Utilities/StartStart10.zip is broken.
I am sure there are more people experiencing this too. Since the update earlier this month, explorer.exe has high CPU usage constantly. Uninstalling Start10 fixes the issue. Windows 10 1909.
I tried downgrading it to v1.61 and it works fine now. So there is problem with the recent version
I just upgraded to Windows 10 1903 and also updated Start10. It happens only when you use "Windows 7 Style" or "Modern Style", but works fine with "Windows 10 Style". Also Uncheck the "Replace the Start 10 search with Cortana Search" Now when I open start menu and try to type anything search anything, it opens "My PC"
@basj confirmed he can reproduce the issue.
It's not a good solution. Start10 should wake up cortana before sending user input. I am also a developer, so I know it's possible to do it. We can look for workarounds, or we can fix the actual bug.
> first keystroke is somehow used/lost to wake the Cortana Maybe that's the issue. How do I fix it? I think it happens if I use search after a while. I am having this issue since several years. I am able to reproduce it in 3 different laptops I have tried at.
If I choose "Replace Start 10 search with Cortana" and then whenever I press Start and start typing, my first character always get lost. i.e. if I type "bluestacks", cortana will search for "luestacks". I am facing this issue from last several years, but nobody care about fixing it
