Yay, yet another forum account... I signed up there and confirmed it with the link sent by email. The next step is up to you I guess.

I'd say that it's also about applying some pressure to the tax negotiations (what a word!). And my guess would be that there's a number of smaller companies in the immediate vicinity of said software giant. ;)

I thought about joining (might be too late for this round?), but there's the problem that I'm not familiar enough with the current state of GC2 to play at my average difficulty level Obscene under all settings. Do I have to or is it just a recommendation?

pndrev, you misunderstood me. And quite frankly I almost have to wonder how that could happen. I was referring to difference in difficulty, not scoring, and my final sentence was that "there isn't much reason not to choose Suicidal". I didn't think it was worth mentioning that games on higher difficulty score more as I assumed that was clear to everyone.
This is also my first win on suicidal difficulty, so a double huzzah to me for that
Congratulations! As others have noted though, the difficulty setting doesn't make much difference in ZYWs because the AI barely has the time to use the advantages. So there isn't much reason not to choose Suicidal. ;)
Try it with spore ships.
I thought about the same thing. One question though, what do you really need in order to be able to build Spore ships

Did another ZYW, this time with ARCed Altarians: Super Breeders, Korx home system, +20 research, +1 speed, +1 sensors, Technologists. The result: 31500 in a large galaxy - could be better I guess.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I just found out about the ARC stuff, this should make ZYW wins even smoother and easier on the larger map types.

Just joined the ZYW club with 25550 points! :HOT: Tell me one thing though: How in hell do you do a ZYW on the really large maps and on Suicidal?! My money would run out way too early, and then there's the distance problem. :SURPRISED:
The empire tree has several settings that you can configure in the interface options. What I do is disable auto-pinning of everything except capitals. Then, when you have important planets (shipyards, superweapons, etc), you can manually pin them to the tree by using '~'. I keep all of these condensed, since I don't need to see everything in their grav well. Then, if I need ships I just click on the planet in the tree and build ships from the planet menu, since you never have to select th
* More automation options for constructors and/or richer constructor management context. * Waypoints (ability to set a route for a ship or fleet to, for example, skirt Yor territory so it can maintain speed). * Ability to spend BC on intelligence gathering without harming the target civ. * Checkbox in fleet dialog to "Upgrade all ships of this type in this fleet."
These four get my vote. - how about constructors with more than one constructo

Heli Heroes is fun for the occasional "shoot'em up". I can't comment on Etrom though, I thought about buying it once but didn't because of lack of time to play anyway, but I think there are better games of the genre on the market - for a higher price of course.

Thank you all for your responses! I played some more of the demo version over the weekend, less than I thought I would, but still. Although I am less fond of it than I thought and hoped I would be, I'll probably buy it. I guess that things will be better with more variety in races and more maps to choose from. I wondered about one thing though: I'm a little afraid of ending up in clickfests and moving the game screen around constantly. Do you micromanage your battles - or is there enoug

Being a long time player of Galactic Civilizations 1 and 2, I finally tried the demo of Sins yesterday and intend to continue over the weekend. While I'm at it, I'd like to know - how people think about the long term motivation regarding Sins? How long do you play it already, and is it still worth it? - how you rate the AI? It is good? Is it really good, or does is just cheat like hell?

Mistakes are human, not having English as my mother tongue I make my share of them as well. But what I can't stand at all is when someone obviously never reads his own postings before posting them. Lack of knowledge is forgivable, repeated lack of effort isn't.
Alt-tab bug is still present
Alt-Tabbing should be no problem when playing in windowed mode. You can change that in the game options and as long as you use the same resolution as on your desktop it won't make a visual difference.
+ TWEAK: The research cost penalty has been reduced
Do this mean that the exploding research cost bug has been eliminated? The description sounds like a major understatement.
