I have had it happen too. It happens for me when I have a fleet with a transport in it, and I attack with that fleet. If I win/lose, and lose the transport, the remaining ships will no longer be able to form a new fleet for some reason. EDIT: What I meant by attack, was to do a planetary invasion. If I invade a planet with a fleet that has both transports and other ships, the other ships will not be able to form a new fleet after the invasion.

You can't keep your tax rate over 70%. (At least I can't.) It is capped at 69%, because people were taking advantage of morale resources. At 70% morale suddenly drops, but 69% is where I usually keep my taxes too. (It is funny to see morale of 80-90% at 69% taxes and 15% at 70% taxes.)

I have the opposite problem. No one ever picks a fight with me. I don't like to start fights, but I like to do them, so I kind of try to get the opponents to fight me at times. I think it has something to do with the fact that I am always neutral, and so I don't have any natural enemies like good and evil civilizations have. Try being Neutral and building up a sizable army, and no-one will try to push you around. EDIT: Also, trade with all of the civs. This keeps them from wantin

I went to put up a picture for my Metaverse character, and there was already one there. It was called Zabimaru. I definately didn't make that. I renamed it to what I was going to put there, but could it possibly be someone using my serial somehow to go on the Metaverse?

Hartford just sucks.. period... it doesn't deserve to be placed on a list of locations to live such as Austin, FL, So Cal etc... Hartford is the dregs of where you can live... I think it rivals Jersey. I would tend to agree with you there, although I liked it better than Southern Cal. I'm sure it is

Make sure that you update to version 1.0X here is the link: Link That should fix your problems. Otherwise do what they say above: update your video drivers. While the game doesn't look all that graphic intense, it actually uses some very new features of DX9.0C, so drivers even 6 months old are often no good. Make sure that you update to the newest ones available.

They should double the total technology/manufacturing power on that planet. (Which is what they have done for me.) I haven't had the problems that you stated. Am I mistaken, or are the bonuses from the capitals only additive? I built an econ capital + several markets on a planet my last game, and the results were very dis

I don't mind copy protection - as long as it is unobtrusive. Quake was the first game that I remembering having a “good” copy protection scheme. It was annoying having to input CD keys and what-not, but it is palettable as long as it was a very good game. (If not, I wouldn’t bother with it. Not worth my time if it might just be ok, cause the copy protection schemes are too much of a pain to go through – EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT THE GAME.) Now they hav

if you trade "trade goods" nothing seems to happen, it doesn't show up in the trade good list, i can't build the according building, do i at least get the bonus from it, i'm not sure Trade goods don't have buildings... You just get the bonuses that they give. You will not be able to trade it to some

It doesn't really bother me at all. I like it that way actually, it gives me more aof a challenge. I go through too many games where I have complete control of the game very early, and that is boring. I like having at least one strong opponent to fight against. (I hear that Brad will make the AI better in 1.1, so I can't wait!)

We can't boycot Starforce, unless we are making a game, and want to use it as copy protection. I have always "boycotted" games that use Starforce, because I don't want that POS on my computer. I was going to buy Heroes of Might and Magic 5 until I found out that they use Starforce. I refuse to buy it now. It is not to hurt the publisher, but because I don't trust that software. It does hurt the publisher, but that was something they should have th

Seriously, WHY are you in Detroit? of all the god forsaken places to live and run a tech business. I live in Detroit now. Since I work for the Department of Defense, I have moved all around the country. I can tell you that Detroit is bar none the BEST place to live! Much better than LA, Austin, Flo

Jakub is a top reviewer. But one can see that from just reading this review. It's very thorough. I can tell you that I bought the original game only because I read his review on it in 2002/2003, or whenever. (I thought it was in 2002, when I was still in school, but I think it may have been 2003.) I

I would think that Jakob from Firingsquad is one of the better reviewers, as he is the the only reviewer whose opinion I respect. (Although I generally don't read large site reviews because they have so many reviews that ignore problems.)

Well, it is a feature to prevent new players to going too far in the red. But it could be exploited. I wonder if this feature shouldn't be linked with game level (ie available only below normal). I believe that I read that Stardock is making that feature linked with difficulty level in the next patch.
