To read these stories about how someone else in the region can totally screw your city over...I just can't fathom how this is fun. I want to build *my* city the way *I* want it and if it gets screwed it's my fault, not because some doofball wants to be funny and mess my city up. It's the new "griefing". Cements for me even more why I swore off this game (and EA completely) and didn't buy it as a good idea. Tropico 4 and Cities XL Plat will more then fi
Just picked it back up a couple weeks ago. They just released their 4th free DLC update on Monday. Tons of updates, new factions, ability to disable timers for single player battles, pre-pick combat cards. They are now working on their first paid DLC to be out in a few months. The developer is really supporting the game. I believe it's 50% off this week on Steam in celebration of selling over 300K copies of the game. Not bad for a really small indie.
SimCity isn't just service-enhanced though, IIRC. I think you actually run your city on their servers like it was an MMO or Diablo 3.
Pretty much, you can't save it locally. Basically if you lose your Internet connection you will lose anything you have done since the last time you were online for a save.
The gaming press is really starting to get riled up. And some are starting to lower their review scores too. As for small cities. Don't you already see this as a DLC? Pay $20! Now have bigger cities!! Oh..and subways will be in the next DLC! We love bending over our customers! I really don't get why anyone still does business with these people. I'm to the point where I'm getting all my games on Kickstarter.
Reduced 46%Original 1279 x 820
LOL. Love it. GOG had similar tweets about SC 2000 which they put on sale.
Might want to check out Kickstarter. Tons of games coming the next couple years for PC/Mac/Linux only. PC gaming market is still there. May not be many "AAA" titles but frankly, most of those are tired old retreds and console ports anyway. Why would I want to play those? Personally I see within the next 5-10 years most "computers" being some sort of tablet with connections. Think iPad with Bluetooth keyboard or the Microsoft Surface with the keyboard if n
This is why I refused to buy this game, and Sim City was one of the main reasons (along with Civ 1) I bought by first "IBM compatible" PC well over 20 years ago. I don't mind some online requirement, to register the game and get updates. Or for a multi-player game. Heck, the vast majority of my game collection is on Steam these days. At least my Steam games, most I can play offline no problem. Heck, some like say some Paradox games I don't even need Ste
Doesn't matter to me, I refuse to buy any more EA games anyway. Sim City..one of my favorite games of all time...I refuse to buy because they want to force me not only to use Origin but to be online all the time...to play a single player game. NO!
As for DLC prices...Steam puts them all on 75% sale several times a year, just wait for that (assuming you got it on Steam of course). And as you can see many of the "baby" DLC are just art and music so you can skip them, no gameplay there. However I pick them up when they are like 50 cents each on sale, what the heck.
Nice sentiment but I'm not a charity for game companies. I would pledge if 1) The game interested me and 2) I thought the company would survive long enough to actually release it. I don't pledge for a "fund raising" to save the company.
That's all nice and good, but I just can't back Wildman anymore. Why? Very high probability of the game being cancelled. It's obvious that GPG is out of money. They laid off nearly everyone. 1.1 million just isn't going to be enough to keep the company going for another 15 months to make this game. At least I doubt it. I just can't put my money behind it with a good chance of losing it. If they make it and the game comes out
Yes, I understood that part. What I don't understand was how this pushes back the timeline to release. Because if you have more bills, it makes sense to release in time to take advantage of the best season for games. Getting out a game as swiftly as possible to pay things off is a pretty good idea, all other matters being equal.
Because, if they actually release the game and sell it for real
Thanks for the post. Looks like another KS backing for me. [e digicons]B)[/e]
Should be in the next couple days. I'd say Friday if I had to guess. And yes, GOG has had tons of sales going on for older games. I'm just waiting for them to bring back the D&D pack. Their sales are running thru the new year so plenty of opportunity.
CK 2 once again 75% off on Steam during the Midweek Madness sale. If you miss it I'm sure it will be the same at some point during the holiday sale coming up soon.
Heads up that Kickstarter pledges have starting showing up on accounts at RSI so the merging has begun.

Really liking the new content in the Echoes of the Endless free update from last week. Lots of good stuff but the best for single player.....option to turn off the battle timer so you can manually fight out each battle if there are multiple in a turn. HUGE feature update there. And they keep on rolling out updates. Sounds like there will be at least one more free content update/dlc in the next couple months plus hopefully an expansion next year. Really impresse
Endless Space is an indie 4x game that is just fantastic. If you wanted to try it out, it's free this weekend on Steam so check it out. During the recent sales it was 50% off so I'd expect the same for the upcoming Christmas sales.
Project Eternity was my first KS I funded. Then Star Citizen. Both aren't due until 2014 at the earliest. But both have tons of updates and very hopeful on them. I've also backed Shadowgate. Much smaller game and more a puzzle/adventure game. But they already have a lot of it built so it's pretty much a sure thing to come out. Last is Limit Theory which is still in funding stage (but will get it's funding). I've funded that o
75% off Crusader Kings 2 and all DLC's for just a few hours on Steam! I think it's done at 11pm or midnight EST.
It is P2W. If some players can spend real money to gain ingame benefits then it is P2W. No way around it. Game does not need to be free 2 play to be p2w. Actually the game not being f2p but having p2w features makes it even worse in my eyes (as in more greedy).
What benefits? Right now different backer levels get different starting ships. Big deal. The game will take actual real life flying skills to do a
BTW, what is this insurance people are talking about? Can anyone explain what it will mean in the game in more detail?
Like Car Insurance. Should your ship be blown up in a battle, or you ram yourself into an asteroid and blow up, etc., if you have insurance then you'll get your base full replaced for free back at your garage/home base. If you do it too much your insurance will go up of course, just lik
