Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if you have the reg code that came with the DVD, you can just download the game.
if you want more of a challenge, go against multiple hard AIs in locked teams. You mean unlocked teams, right? A FFA against unlocked teams will allow the enemy AI to team up against you (and this is pretty much guaranteed to happen). Locked teams will remain individual, and so fight amongst each other at least somewhat....Unless you mean a 2 v 1 type game, with 2 locked AI? I imagine that would be quite tough, particularly mid-game.
That's exactly what I mean - set yourse
your not so bright are ya? 2 ports, 1 for cash 1 for resources
Nice gratuitous insult. But if you actually read my post, you'd see that I never said you could only have one port. We won't even go into the painful irony part.

These guys pride themselves on not making cheating AI levels (i.e. no bonus resources, faster construction etc.) So it's not as easy for them as it is for other developers, who can just crank the cheating higher. 1.03 is going to see more AI upgrades, until then, if you want more of a challenge, go against multiple hard AIs in locked teams.

Well, that's where your time constraints are going to come in. Every expansion is going to take a certain amount of time to pay off, and colonizing new worlds is a big hit in terms of needing planet infrastructure investment before it starts to pay off. Also, you have to deal with the fact that a credit is worth more when you're getting 1/sec than when you're getting 10/sec. So it's a hugely complex problem. Which is good, because otherwise everyone would be doing the optimal thing.<
BigBad, anything to actually contribute beyond being an awesome forum warrior?
There you go again with the personal attacks. For someone who says he wants an objective discussion, you sure do pick a lot of fights.
Its the best 4x game ever made is a much more reasonable assessment.
Actually, there I might disagree with you. I think one of the Civs or SMAC might hold that crown. I'd say it's the best integration of RTS with 4X.
Well, when the second post in the thread is trolling, and its allowed (apparently encouraged) by mods, what else is there to expect?
Trolling? I just pointed out that your allegations of 'fawning praise' are rather conclusively debunked by the press at large, and invited you to take it up with them. Quite frankly, you started the entire thread off with a hostile tone ('fawning', 'drooling' q.v.). You have no basis for calling anyone a troll.
