I kind of liked the Borg one, for what it was 1 hour. Surprised they did not try to exploit it by making it a season ending cliffhanger. I liked that he spaced the Borg. In lots of ways I like it better than some of the other spinofs (I think the charactors are better developed and less, well star trek like) :) I still miss B5 though. >:(

-Trade with the strongest AI -Get all the trade goods you can -Focus on economics All the AIs (good and evil) like cash -stay out of war pay them, if you need to its cheaper in the long run. Unless of course you plan to take them out! -And most importantly keep them all broke! Pay tribute to them, Then sell them tech and trade goods! Sell the minors Antimatter missles on long leases, for sure if they reside in an AI's space. Pay the Major
I know this, they all like credits, find a way to pay them before the war starts and war is less likely. Once in a war its a loosing proposition (to pay then I mean).
I wish I was going to e3, I have a REAL JOB! LOL programming games, Really! (would be cool) But the poll does not ask how many programmers there are ( I am one ) but unfortunitly I can't go to e3 >:(
same here one click on the main screen and its ok.
Taking a long time to pay somthing instead of paying up front is termed a lease eventhough technicly thats not what it is. (its actually a long term loan).
My point is they (the programmers) spent lots of time coding the AIs and I like to play againtst the weaknesses...not for advantage as much as to see how they react.. Even with high spying you don't find out much background on the AIs (just stats from what I have seen) It would be cool if the reports gave more political, social, historical things from the back story that you could use. The other thing that spying should give you is more of those AI traits I mentioned in the original post. Al
The other thing I did was to keep them broke by selling them tech and any free rangers I got along the way.
My thinking is that If I Pay tribute and they declair war, one op the penalties for them is to loose the tribute, like they loose the trade benifit.
Does Tribute I pay a race, or they pay me stop when they go to war with me or I go to war with them? Do long leases for purchases work the same way?
I found a way to win this game, it was real cool. Put my reaserch to 80% Took all the econ and research bonuses I could get Sold tech and animatter missles to the monors for long leases, and paid both those races off 100 credits a turn. Then I took good choices on the pop up questions for the rest of the game. Soon we were all close and I alied with them. Very cool.
If each AI is unique, and I think it is, It would be neat to have guidelines on how to interact with each. Then you could vary your game according to what AI is strongest in a particular game. Anyone? :)
yes I am leaning evil... :D
Reseach impulse drive then build it then double click on it and load it like a colony ship. r
I need better info on how to deal with the individual races: What do they like and hate What are their strengths/weaknesses The torians in particular are killing me on normal intelligence, and anything below that is too easy what am i missing? My last loss was in the end game, but even heavy trade did not save me in the end.
nickname
It only finds ships not in orbit or not in autopilot, not very useful.
Ihave a game I have saved where it is me, The Torians and the light blue guys are allies. I am giving the green guys more trade than the light blue guys, I am second military wise....but they always end up in a war with me and kill me no matter what, Ideas? I have very high diplomacy and have antimatter misssiles but even they don't hold him off for ever!
Paul, Use whatever name you log in with here. Just make sure the metaverse registration is the same. You might want to go to stardock, (the skins) and thatvis where you can change your nickname if you need or want to. You will then need to re-register with the metaverse under that name and also change it when you submit a score. There is a drop down menu for that in the game menu.
Normal is too hard, sub normal is to easy in my opinion.
Why not control your trade-interdiction force yourself? lazy
The info in the alias (at the end of your game) needs to match the info in the registration in the metaverse before the scores will show up. If ti does mot you can open the list box on the menu item in the game and enter a name that matches the info for the metaverse registration... hope this helps. had the same problem.
in a recient game I had extra cash so i destableized the torians with over 100 credits a turn for several years and noticed nothing...am I missing somthing?
I think if you move the ships (like a colony ship) it auto turns. there may be a way tu turn that off. You are in your turn as long as you don't hit the turn button. Early in the game when you have not met any aliens it may seem like turns don't do anything but you can auto explore your survey ship and set a colony ship to auto pilot to test this...hope this helps
I was in a game that I lost, because I was second in millitary power, on the evil side and Green and light blue attacked me. I could not maintain the peace, even with high diplomicy. I had lots of money from trade goods but with millitary production and the spending slider at 100 percent. that only lasted a few years. And I did have trade with the green guys and was spending over 100 credits a turn on destabilization. All that being said, the only way I almost won the war was to set the
