I've just noticed that there are no longer diplomacy movies for the new alien races as of this latest beta (although my memory is crappy I seem to recall seeing movies for them in the previous beta version). What's extra odd is that I noticed that this latest beta had a large number of new movie files that look diplomacy-related so I am unsure what is going on. And on an unrelated note, I'm sorry that we get yet another "operatic" theme song for DA. I was enjoying the instrumental openi

Cool. Is there a summary .txt file somewhere that notes the changes/additions in this version of the Beta?
Others have asked for this as well but it sure would be swell if there was a tool-tip during Trade that let you get a general idea of the relative value of items for trade. It would save a LOT of time spent randomly plugging in crap in hopes of maximizing a deal. Thanks! (oh, and a "what would it take for you to give me this?" option - as is used in Civ IV - would be swell too)
This isn't really a bug but it bothers me that once a starbase is built to mine a resource the icon simply says "Mining Starbase" rather than detailing just what is being mined. Then I have to scroll in, check the color of the icon and try and remember what yellow or blue stands for... bleah.
Let's say that I create a custom race. At the point where I am defining the appearance of the race, I can chose to modify the ship templates. HOWEVER, it seems that I cannot actually edit the ship templates while in that selection screen. At what part of the game is a player allowed to go into the shipyard and craft all of the appropriate ship template types in order to use them for custom races?
Oops... sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum. This was meant for DA beta.

I have found that if I trade a treaty for a treaty (economic for research, etc.) that anything I ask for in addition will be given over (all technologies for example). In other words, I can economic treaty for research treaty plus about a dozen technologies. Which brings up another question: what the heck is an economic treaty anyway? And how would you "trade" it?
I've gotten this error/crash several times now at the point where I try to quit out of the game. Here is my debug file. Excellent... thanks!
If I create a custom race, is there an .xml file that I can edit to change the portrait photo for the two different views? (at the moment, it simply stretches the photo from one view to the next)
I just grabbed the DA beta... I'm curious whether the Minor Races are still functionally retarded in that one. Anybody know offhand?
Why is it that even in version 1.4x the minor races do the stupidest things? It's aggravating to see them do things such as building a fleet of freighters and constructors that just sit in orbit around an otherwise defenseless planet. And when I try and gift several fleets worth of warships to a minor race (just to help their noble fight against a race that is encroaching on them) those gifted ships just sit there unused in my home region until the minor race is eventually overrun. Is t
Ah... Eventmusic/MainTheme.mp3 just switched that out with a good ambient tune by The Orb and now all is well.
That reminds me, I've never tried it but can that audio file be "modded out" and replaced by something a little less annoying?
I think people that post "this game is too easy" are the absolute coolest people walking the planet. I am in envy of their gaming prowess and genuinely hope to someday have a fractional level of their awesomeness. But sadly, I know it is never to be...
I want to give Brad Wardell a digital high-five. Brad Wardell is so awesome his name deserves to always be spoken as "Brad Wardell," not just "Brad" or "Mr. Wardell". Yikes... that sounds dangerously close to "Dereck Smart" !!!
Having tactical battles come out #1 in the poll was pretty shocking to me as well. Are these people serious? After the first few battles played out for the sake of novelty, I'd just start hitting the AUTO BATTLE button rather than bogging things down to such a micro-crawl.
I've been playing Tetris a lot these days and was somewhat let down by the lack of a backstory to really explore the nature of the falling blocks and was hoping that somebody would craft some solid fanfiction fleshing out the living world of Tetris. So, hopefully somebody who has time after writing stories about the GalCiv2 universe could take a crack at that as well. Or maybe I'll just wait until the movie adaptation.
Pardon me if I am parroting an earlier message but much more than multiplayer or espionage elements, I would like an expansion to beef up the diplomacy/interaction between the player and the AI. Without a human adversary, the only source of contact is the computer and there should be far more diplomacy options: options to complain, threaten, whine, schmooze, option to negotiate about upcoming political events (and have the voting actually be more meaningful), options to plot and scheme against a
ZERO interest from over here, but go for it if the urge drives you.
Hmmm... there are pulldowns for "trolling" and "insightful" but no option to choose "insane" - this is an oversight, I presume.
Thanks for all the suggestions... I've tried using bright orange or pink or even sea-green but the map and ship icons seem to take on a much darker hue than the one that I select during customization. I've been experimenting with a crappy Easter Egg pale green that seems okay... doesn't blend with the Torians or Altarians.
Does anybody have a good custom race color that does NOT blend too closely to any of the AI races? I used to pick my color based on which opponents I was going to go up against but with the option to randomly select the AI races, it's impossible to know which color will give me the best contrast vs. the AI. If anybody has a hex value/rgb value that works well against all the races, please slip it on over. At this point, I'm tempted to go into the .xml files and give one of the major
I was curious what sort of activity would push an ally into breaking his alliance with the human player. Does the computer AI have an algorithm to evaluate the use and necessity of the alliance from time to time and judge whether or not to cut free? If allied with an ethically good race will pursuing an evil path lead them to bounce out of that alliance? Inquiring minds want to know.
