dont buy games from ebay. in my experience the vast majority are pirate copies. That's not totally accurate, although there *is* a lot of piracy going on. I often sell my used PC games on ebay after I burn out on them (I sold my copy of Civ IV within about a month after I began to find the end-game

The easiest way to create a logo with transparent edges is to build the image in Photoshop over a transparent layer and then do a save-to-web with your output file type set as 24-bit PNG file. That will totally do the trick for ya.

Playing my second game with a custom race with the 'lucky' attribute and very early in the game I was awarded the 'Lucky Ranger' ship discovery event. Several turns later, another and then another and then another. With these four ships I merrily swept away my foes and easily whomped on a few other races who had yet to become foes. Another game this weekend with the same race resulted in the same series of Lucky Rangers being handed to me.

Being of fan of the economic/diplomatic win, I often find myself in a position where myself and one other alien race become the powerhouses of the galaxy. What happens then is that the other race is typically a super-power by virtue of militaristic expansion and I have to sit idly by and watch as every minor player gets sucked up into their empire over time as the result of conquest. Typically at the half-way point of the game I am faced with the ugly

Hi there... I was getting that same error too and realized that it was trying to access an account that I had set up years ago when I registered the FIRST GalCiv. I had to remember the old email address and things went through find after that. I assume that you've set up an account on the site in order to be able to download the patch - the verification module is checking against the email and serial that you registered with originally. Hope

I've got the bulk of the game digested but one factor that still baffles me is what exactly is taking place if I put focus on social projects? And just what the heck does "social projects" even mean? It sounds vaguely like facilities to increase happiness/morale but I assume that stuff is hard-wired into the literal buildings and race modifiers and such. On a similar note, what happens if all tiles of a colony are built up and I leave the fo

Infinite Adventures in Weird Space (or whatever you call it) has the star system names generated from an editable text file. I was wondering if the same thing potentially existed for GalCiv2 (not near the game currently so I can't check).

Why are we still seeing aliens in computer games resemble characters from Star Trek? I get bummed when a space exploration game cranks out fairly homogenous, humanoid-looking aliens to deal with. Star Control 2 gave us wild and kooky aliens that really were alien as heck... why not have that in GalCiv as well? The AI would not need to be revised, simply insert a more varied array of critters to deal with (squid-bugs with gas brains, radioactive spore

Howdy... unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to grab and drag the scale slider in the ship design mode. Even when I click on the left and right arrows manually it doesn't seem to have any effect on whatever part I have highlighted at the time. Is anyone else able to use this feature properly? Thanks
