Research and Economic treaties error

I have found that if I trade a treaty for a treaty (economic for research, etc.) that anything I ask for in addition will be given over (all technologies for example). In other words, I can economic treaty for research treaty plus about a dozen technologies.

Which brings up another question: what the heck is an economic treaty anyway? And how would you "trade" it?

economic treaty gives you (if you are the receiver) 10% of the income of the giver.
research treaty gives you 10% of his tech points,
in my understanding this is 0 if he doesn't spend any money on it.

economic treaty is worth more, also to the AI.

i've noticed this too, offer the AI an economic treaty, and you can que up all their techs, all their money, and even a bunch of starships before they'll turn you down. Been a nice exploit tho .

well in my latest game the economic treaty would give you 600 bc per week,
