I've been using Stardock software (mostly WindowBlinds) for more than 20 years now and no matter how much I love the applications, I can't say there haven't been myriad issues with compatibility. For much of these frustrations, however, one can pretty easily trace the cause back to Microsoft and their tight grip on various components of the Windows platform and their efforts to prevent users from making modifications (either manually or through the installation of software such as Windo
I am still doing the same as when I first posted in July of 2016. I have no use for Windows 10 other than changing it by designing Windowblinds skins. Windows 7 is still, and will always be my primary OS.
Well first of all, if I've not said so already, THANK YOU for SO MANY fantastic Windowblinds skins ov

Not surprisingly, this is not the first time I've been suspected of being a Microsoft employee (though I am not). My ex, however, was (actually still is) an employee in their System Center Configuration Manager division, and even he often said that I was more of a Microsoft cheerleader than anyone on his team! I admit I'm what we call in my industry (consumer market research) a Brand Loyalist. A Brand Loyalist, for the most part, tends to be loyal to a brand through t

It was exceptionally odd, and the problem quickly became exponentially bigger, but obviously not a Stardock issue. Turns out that using two different premium password/identity applications concurrently, can REALLY screw things up. LOL Picked True-Key over Last Pass, uninstalled the latter, reinstalled the former, problems solved.

OK so this is just strange. I'll try to describe the issue as concisely as possible. Earlier tonight I was doing several things at once on the PC (admittedly more than the machine truly has the power for) and it either froze or I got overly impatient (likely the latter) and as I was attempting to bring up the task manager, I could see Windows Explorer and/or Windowblinds crashing and then restarting--three or four times maybe--and then all the Windowblinds skinning was just go

So I have Start10 all set the way I like it, and have chosen my all-time favorite, impossible to make something better EVER (until tomorrow) WB skin...but the WB skin has a start menu I despise. Is there a way to easily make Start10 's menu override one that may be included in an otherwise perfect skin? <span style="font-family:

Thanks for the input guys--I'm well aware of the increased chances one takes on when using software such as this on any preview-version platform; I have to say, however that testing this things (and figuring out the post-crash forensics) is kind of the whole point of using preview-version software in the first place. <span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', genev

Is anyone else having issues in compatibility between Windowblinds, WindowsFX and or Start10 in conjunction with the Tuesday 06-April-2016 Insider Preview release? Upon install of this update, after logging on to the PC for me there was basically no UI at all. Eventually I launched Task Manager using and immediately noticed Windows Explorer wasn't running. Hmmm. I tried launching Explorer and momentarily saw it appear on the list o

So yesterday I wanted to download the most current version of Start10 as part of a clean-install of I'm doing. I was elated to see the (beta) of Windows10 and of course grabbed that too. I'm also in the process of moving from one house to another so I'm multitasking like never before. READ: I didn't read a bleepin' thing, I just started installing and applying! Overall everything is going swell and my Windows10 UI is again a pretty pretty pl
