Frogboy -- FIrst, if it was in the manual it was not reconsidered after complaints. Period. Second, calling this a rant is uncalled for, as is the preemptory tone. I was never treated this way in the first galciv forum, in which I participated for a year or so. It is inexcusable for the stardock moderator to post like this

As for the forums, they're a big part of why I bought the game. And they're slow, buggy, user-hostile, and frequently down. Like I wrote about, I expect better. Like what? Civilization4.com's forums? Do they have forums? I can't even go on there because the site says I don't have Flash installed even
So what strategy game AI do you find sufficient? If GalCiv II's isn't good enough for you, then what is? When people speak highly of the computer AI, they speak of how good it is compared to other games. I can't think of another game that is even remotely close. Why not simply turn up the difficulty level? And I hope this doesn't sound rude but complaining about the forums seems petty and has nothing to do with the g
Thanks all for the tips and cyber next time please try not to be a lets see how im gonna treat this guy person, forums are made for helping people out You didn't ask for help though. You came on and claimed the game was "cheating completely" A very serious accusation on a game that is well known for

There's only one killer flaw in the SE games that always put it in a class below GalCiv for me - it's virtually impossible to lose. The game's AI is so weak as to be non functional. It's easy to have lots of options and "depth" if you don't have to bother making a computer AI that makes use of them. SE 4 just wasn't challenging in the slightest and I don't consider myself a very great strategist.
WTF_Chuck, sorry but you're just one of those miserable people who make nice forum communities suck for everyone. You really think 3 out of 4 people who played GalCiv 2 had a bad experience? You're insane.
GalCiv isn't MOO. Some of us were not MOO fans. I didn't care to mess around with 20,000 ships where a planet was making 40 per turn. I like option #3 but then why aren't you playing in strategic mode at that stage?
Tough is just the difficulty level where the AIs are set to intelligent. Tough means they're playing at the same level. This is the equiv of "Noble" in Civ IV. It's worth noting that the "fair" AI in Civ IV stops at the 4th level whereas in GalCiv its equal level is the 6th level. Most seasoned Civ 4 vets play at Prince or Monarch for a challenge (two levels above the fair level in Civ IV) and that's after 5 months of patches.
Mmm. Master of Magic. that would be sweet.
Piracy is a cop out. It assumes that every pirated copy is a lost sale. I don't like being treated liek a criminal. That's why I like Stardock. They make it easy and worth it to buy their games.
Worm h ole swould be cool but I'm not sure they'd reall add to the 'fun'.
Very cool!
Seems like the peopl who have the problem ahve the same CPU/MB combo: Processor: AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2100+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.3GHz
There's not much that's constructive in that post, imo. Sounds like he's played teh game maybe an hour.
The installer isn't working for you? I think they'd need to knwo a little bit about your computer. They use a pretty standard installer.
Yea, if the dev lead can't figure it out, i don't think anyone else will.
Do you have any tools to measure temperature? Maybe the GPU is getting hot?
Go play Moo then. Sheesh.
Loudness of the few doesn't equate to largeness in numbers. I've seen a few people post over and over and over demanding the feature. Civ IV has multiplayer, hard to find people to play on Gamespy.
Not seen or heard of this.
Wow. So many armchair game designers.
was just saying that big brand-names get flamed down real quick when they release a very buggy game - though they still sale. Stardock's saving grace is that they are an indie developper who have a great fanbase supporting them and spreading around the word and also their customer service/dedication to patching it up real fast. I unders
I would like to see Stardock better staff a QA department, though; even if that means simply paying several high school kids minimum wage to play games. SD's response time/support is good, but the frequency & severity of bugs is abnormally large for a mainstream commercial product. It's like we're the QA department. LOL. What mainstream game h
I totally don't agree with you. It's my game. I want to be able to play it as I like. I hated the fact Civ IV restricted how I could play the game. I agree the AI should be more careful but so far from what I've seein in 1.0X they've taken care of this. I support having an OPTION to eliminate tech trading. But I don't support crippling it like they did in Civ IV.
