Sorry for the delay. I've given the procedure linked a try on both of my computers which run Windows 10, and it doesn't seem to work as intended on either. Perhaps Windows 10 has been updated since the article was published, and the registry value no longer works? I don't even get the extended jump list as pictured in the article. Does following the linked procedure produce the same results on Windows 10 machines that you have access to?

In Windows 7, there was a right-arrow icon to the right of programs in the start menu. When this arrow was hovered-over, the side panel would display a list of recent files you had loaded using this program. You could also pin these files to a new list that would form above the list of "Recent" files in the start menu side panel. Start10 also has this feature, but I am finding that there is a limitation of 9 items that can be added to the "Pinned" list before the oldes
