I must confirm, that Start8 is not with conflict with Windows 8 Media center. I didnt have problem with WMC instalation
this was same problem I had, its always better to uninstall old version, reboot and install new

Hello, same here, just bough start8, fresh dovnload of version 1. System boots I log on, and I see Metro, not desktop, I have to click to desktop icon on metro page to go to desktop. Win8 Pro x64 Manual login with password everything else seems to be working correct
