In Windowblinds there is a setting to "Always use the OS Start button rather than the style one". With that checked, your custom start button in Start 11 should work.

Spent a couple of hours modding Thunder Storm (original is from 2004!) again, getting the old Sysmetrix skin updated (still working!) to fit screen, changed some of the fonts etc. etc., and must say that it still is one slick "suite"!
