How does one subscribe the get the 1.6 Beta? I see steam has a beta access code but I don't see any place to acquire it?

To comment on this myself ... as what I consider to be a casual gamer now. I am 36 and have a full time job and family. I found FE on steam during a pre-order, and thought it looked interesting. So I read up on the game and found that they had released a previous version years ago called Elemental. I found it for cheap on Amazon ($5 but I should have read how bugged and flawed it was). I attempted to play it, and enjoyed the concept of it when it wouldn't cra

I only have a few hours a night, maybe, to play a game. So once I realized my large map over a few days was shot, I just played a quick one session Tiny map. It was still fun, but I will probably wait until it is fixed so I don't get sick of playing the same types of maps all the time. Unplayable, not entirely, but I do understand your frustration.
Yup this bug STILL exists. I read this today at work, and when I got home I loaded one of my games and moved an army to an enemy city, they were building Archers. Saved the game, reloaded it, ended the turn and it was instantly built. Then they started building Defenders, so I saved again and reloaded, instantly built. Then they started another defenders, and hit end turn and it was constructing normally. Saved and reloaded, auto finished building. Would al
With all the different ideas in this thread and others, sounds to me like they just need game/map setup options in the beginning where you check off a box: Enable Auto-Raze, Enable No Saves, Hardcore Heroes (Perm Death) etc. Then everyone gets what they want and can play however they want.
Quoting larienna, reply 39 From my point of view, a game that takes 20+ hours to finish is not multiplayer friendly. A multiplyer friendly game would have to last at most 2-3 hours in a single player game to be playable as a multi-player game. Certainly entitled to your opinion however I respectfully disagree. I and others here play multiplayer strategy games regularly over many sessions which far exceeed 20+ hours in total
Second, a garrison can help fend off monsters.
As stated here, I have found that by having AT LEAST 1 unit (not militia) in your city, it highly deters monsters from attacking your city. If it's a dragon roaming around you would need, at least, a medium level garrison army to deter it from attacking. I believe this is how the AI prevents the monsters from romping them. Just by having a unit in
I still don't get why when a rock spider attacks my militia won't defend, but if a giant Krax army attacks me they will hopelessly defend.
It's boring. Needs a complete overhaul imo. Heroes should cost influence to hire, not gildar. Additional heroes should cost incrementally increased influence. Empire growth should be a dependant factor based on how much influence you have. I put together a suggestion proposal that can be found here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/433096
<p
I had a quest location that I could not get. I would drop my champion on it and nothing would happen. I finished the quest that gives you the War Boar mount, and then the quest worked, but was the same exact quest. Now that I know that's how duplicate quests work, it makes sense, but at the time I wasted a bunch of turns trying a different champion, saving and reloading, etc.
I thought I remember reading bug reports about this but could not seem to find it. How come Shadow Strike, no matter the level is always just Ignore 25% of the victim's defense? I stopped at rank 3 because I never noticed a difference damage wise and all three ranks were the same %. And how come all melee skills like Double Strike, True Strike, etc are listed in the game database or whatever as magic spells and are useless against magic immune creatures. &nbs
How it happened (Yes I verified I LOADED the map and did not have RANDOM selected from the start of the game): 1. Started a new game, random map, played about 2 turns and thought, I wonder what the map editor was like. 2. Exit to main menu, open map editor. 3. Create random, balanced, medium map, toyed around with it, added some rivers, fillied in some of the lakes because it randomly made the map like a lake filled maze. 4. Saved map, started a new game, selec
Here's how I got mine to work. Install WoM, and install the Impulse game manager. When you open it up it will prompt you to update to the Gamestop client, DO NOT update. Instead finish the registration process for WoM. Once you have it registered, THEN update to WoM 1.4, THEN you can upgrade the gamestop client. If you already installed WoM, you can UNINSTALL the Gamestop client, and install the Impulse Client from the CD, and then register, update to 1.4,
My steam client just auto updated with 1.01 about 15 minutes ago while I was eating lunch.
I have yet to try WoM on my Windows 8 machine (since it's my work machine), but I would try browsing to your your Elemental install directory, and right click on elemental.exe and select Troubleshoot Compatibility. I've found that seems to work for all of my legacy software on Windows 8 so far, but again it hasn't been any games, it's been for my work applications.

I've already had 3 friends on steam, one being my brother, ask me about the game because they see me playing it and I told them it's worth the investment, but if you can't deal with the bugs wait until I let them know it's good to go. I know for a fact my brother would love
Thank you for reporting this and verifying it is true. I play games pretty casually, sometimes only 2 hours a sitting, and I was wondering why even on normal the AI seems to always super advance faster than me. This bug makes perfect sense for the game I was trying to play for a week. I guess I will just shelve this game until the bugs are worked out. Thanks.
I've been an avid strategy gamer fomr the DOS days of the original Civ. I'm a little shocked it took me so long to find this series being a big fan of the Fall from Heaven mod in Civ 4. That being said, I find myself bouncing between the two games every other day. I like the graphics, stability and smooth feeling of FE, but at the same time I like many of the features in WoM, like Dynasties, but hate that it is so buggy. It feels a little bit like FE is just no
As far as Dynasties and balance are concerned: I agree with the people who don't want their heroes to die of old age (or period), but I also agree that it would be necessary to implement. I agree it should be an option ("A game is a series of interesting choices." - Sid Meier), an alternate game mode, and that it should explain itself fully in the selection screen so that the player can make an informed decision. Personally, I like the
First time posting, but purchased WoM for $5 when I saw FE on Steam pre-order. Figured I would check out the first rendition before FE. I was lucky to be able to play it for the first time on version 1.4, and while it was still crashing on me a lot because of the 2GB memory limit, I really liked the game. So after a few random crashes I figured I would pick up FE, best way to support something you like is to pay the full price so the company gets some good support imo.
