Guys, let's get reasonable here. We live in bone-breaking capitalism (a dog-eat-dog world, the big fish eat the small one, the survival of the fittest etc.) and the video gaming industry is just like any other kind of industry, the game designing and publishing companies are just like any other companies; they put money and profit above everything else! The system always worked like this and it doesn't show any signs it tries to change at all. Rivalties and sue iss

I didn't mean that they where the only factors I took into account. I would never buy a beautiful but unplayable game. And I would never buy AoW if it was ugly. For me climate is essential part of gameplay experience. Graphics, sound and music build the climate (also others factors, like writing an
[quote who="Gandhialf" reply="56" id="3086222"]Quoting StevenAus, reply 55HOMM II is another game whose graphics have aged very well. Although I don't think HOMM III's graphics have aged nearly as well. I agree about HOMM II: I loved it's graphics and I still do. HOMM III doesn't have all that charm, but I still like it. Have you seen/played Age of Wonders 1? Music and graphics made me buy this game
@Gandhialf: Buying a game just because of its graphics/music isn't a very clever thing to do. On the other hand, buying a game because you like its gameplay is the best investment you have ever done! But why should I care? People like you will be the losers if keep judging the book by its cover and not by its content. Graphics who age well, graphics who age bad, who cares? THE THING THAT NEVER AGES IS THE GAMEPLAY, PERIOD!
@Campaigner: First of all, I would like to congratulate you for not judging games completely from the graphics. However, I would also like to "flame" you for judging games mostly because of their graphics. I have plenty of games to mention that have poor graphics yet awesome gameplay, and I could start from the good old age of text adventures and the various&nb
@Campaigner: I really feel sorry for you for judging the gameplay of a game based on videos and screenshots rather than playing the game itself. That shows what an expert Total Annihilation: Kingdoms player you are! Sorry for my sacrasm, but the least you have to do before applying a negative comment on a game is to give this game a really serious gameplay. If you don't play the game at all or if you play the game for very few hours, then you cannot have a true opinion about
I don't get why Warlords Battlecry and TA:Kingdoms looks like shit. First of all, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms has excellent looking 2D backrounds and 3D units with an excellent animation for its time. Starcraft has 2D graphics, so it is lower than TA:Kingdoms in graphical technology. By the way, who serious RTS player would judge a game by its cover? The fact you made a comment just to say how awful the GRAPHICS (and not the gameplay or something) are, it shows your lowly intelli

Total Annihilation was cool, but Kingdoms had an amazing story and where most games boast three unique groups (which are rarely all that different) this game had five groups with as little in common as you can imagine. Even to turtle you had to take a different approach with each force. Wonderful game. edit: Oh, and the 'end game' units are limi

Nice idea! However, there are tons of new ideas but the programming / graphic designing skills and time needed just forbid most projects of ever existing, let alone the fact there are already millions of great PC games which can be proven quite addictive...
Heretic 3, Heretic III, give us a new Heretic or Hexen game now!!! (Yeah, I am a fanboy!!!!!!!)

I always play Total Annihilation: Kingdoms and I will likely never stop playing it. If you wish your buff to be kicked online on this game, PM me in TA:Kingdoms Community ( http://kingdoms.heavenforum.org/ ). I am always ready to face someone in TAK! Serious Sam 2 is also a game I always return. However, I have only the Demo verison right now, I had rented the full version a few years ago but I obvious
Some guys mentioned Dark Reign, really good RTS but I have no idea about fun co-op mode. Well, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms has awesome co-op battles, but only player Vs player, since AI is pretty weak if you learn how to beat it. But in 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 online matches, each player choose one of the five completely different fractions and allies could exchange tier 1 builders via a special menu appearing when pressing D, so in the end we had both our race's units and the

Personally, I prefer YoYoGames ( http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/ ) and if you love 3D retro games more than most modern super 3D graphics games you should probably agree.
X-Wing Alliance = Best Space Fighting Sim ever, period! (Yes, my opinion is very-very biased, but why should I care, LOL!!!)
First of all, the most groundbeaking games were, without a single doubt, the following: 1) Pong 2) Pacman 3) Tetris 4) Breakout/Arcanoid 5) Tron/Snake</st

If you want my humble opinion, Total Annihilation series forever!
I haven't played Sins of a Solar Empire yet, however I can answer the question about units cost and balance. When an RTS game comes out, it is always pretty well-balanced in skirmish matches against the AI or during the campaign. RTSes are also pretty balanced in low-average levels of online multiplayer experience. However, when it reaches the higher/elite levels of multiplayer gameplay, the super experie
