Yes, I also received a message from Steam that my files were corrupted. The only solution I have found to the Saving/Loading problem is to play and only save every 15 turns or so and disable Automatic Save option. Which sucks.
I just received an update to GalCivIII on Steam today. Did it address the problem with the Saving/Loading issue?
Thanks Stardock!!! I have been playing a new game in a Large Universe and have reduced my saves to 5 turns or so. This has really helped me. I do hope you can find a fix for those of us who would like to say every turn or two. Thanks for acknowledging this problem.
Maybe we all need to buy I9 processors and 32GB of memory, haha...

I was playing in only a large universe and this happened to me. I went through all the trouble-shooting steps you gave and found no problem with my system.
I am also having this problem. It's very irritating. Please patch this.
