"free daily follow up" is still bubblin away... ;) While I'm typing, how would people feel about an update to 'Retro' - I think a few people still like it. It would be a full revanp though, and likely to be a Master skin.

I have a Kindle and it is great for reading ebooks. And that's it; that's what its for and it does it well, but it doesn't (nor was intended to) do anything else. Of course the Kindle is a fifth of the price of an iPad, so for the same money you could have one in each room... [e digicons]8|[/e] ?

Hi. No problems with this - after the weekend (when the WC peeps are back in) I will make sure that the version on WinCustomize is updated to the version which does have the Win7 substyle. (Historically, this was caused by an error when the update was posted - I think that it might be that the original was 'laguna' and I updated the files as 'Laguna' (upper case) which the WC upload program didn;t seem to like. Yes - I still make my skins without SKS - although I do use it to check new stuff, check my layers and build animations, and I regularly compare my skins with others just to see what I might be missing out. I would recommend that all new skinners use SKS though - it's really a great tool.

You are completely right in your approach starkers - like anything else, if you want and can pay for a skins, pay, if not, then you don't have to. Visitors to this website are under no obligations (except to be polite!). There is plenty of choice here and some fantastic artists, some who sell and most who don't. I personally would still say a good skin is good, whether I had to pay or not.
