Just thinking of editing one of my older skins in Photoshop CC and found to my horror that the TGA files aren't handled properly - their alpha channels are borked. Then I remembered - I previously swapped out the targa file format plugin when I used PS before - and luckily Adobe have made the old plugin available... But it doesn't seem to load in the PS CC version - there's a message in the start-up log that says that it failed to load. Any idea how I can e

I found a fix/workaround for my problem with Chrome... My symptom was that I had an invisible/unskinned titlebar in Chrome, the rest of the window frame being skinned ok. In Chrome advanced settings there is an option "use hardware acceleration when available" which I had ticked. When I unticked it and restarted chrome, my titlebar was skinned! Yay! This might point to a driver issue on my laptop I guess, although it says that my driver is up to date (Intel HD Graphics, onboard graphi

Just noticed the little button to the right of 'apply style to the desktop' - very useful menu which includes a 'rebuild list' option, thank you. Loving having desktop skinned again! Thank you. (Chrome is still titlebar-less though...)

Please stop these installers asking if I want Fences installing every time... It's ticked by default and BLOODY ANNOYING. Untick. No thank you. I didn't want it before, I don't want it again. When these sort of impolite default-ticked annoyances happen it makes me want to not bother... grrr

Just confirming Chrome here has an unskinned window titlebar (i.e. it's transparent), so no min/max/close buttons either. The other three sides of the window frame are there... That's after a reboot. I'll check after a shutdown. Also applying a skin seems to need you to double-click on the WBA file to 'install' it - I can't seem to find a way to just refresh the skin list to find skin folders I've copied in. (maybe that's not an option now?) But

Ok... I think that's all my Master Skins now available for free. Apologies to anyone who paid for them recently - fortunately none of them were over $5, so it shouldn't be a huge loss, and you would be supporting WinCustomize anyway. None have been updated - they are 'as is', unedited from their 'Master' versions, and I hope you enjoy them. If you want to see how I went about designing them, you can find a forum post called 'anatomy of a win

The link on this page is a big Photoshop file. It is the template I used for my WB skins (specifically in this case 'Cubano') which I've decided to share with you. You can use it as a reference, as a tutorial, take it apart, change it - do whatever you like with it... (but don't post a duplicate 'Cubano' please!) There isn't a single way to design a WB skin, but in my later designs I worked from a single PS file containing folders of layers for each

I'm going to be releasing my Master Skins for all to download... slowly, when I can remember to do it (they are getting a bit old now). Starting with Primavera, which anyone can now download for free. :)

I have a similar question - do I still use Impulse to update WB or should I donwload directly, or is the new SC available? Thanks... (sorry if this has been asked a hundred times before...)

Correct - you cannot turn off the blur behind, for example, the glass toolbar section (in explorer windows behind the folder path and search boxes). It's blurred whether you want it to be or not, so you have to either make your frame blurred to match or design in something for that section.

Just bringing to anyone's attention who has downloaded Jingo - I've updated it because I'd added two out of date files to the wba file (the effects mostly seen on XP). The skin has been updated, so it would be worth removing the original version and downloading the updated one. Sorry about that :S Silly Essorant.

;) No I understood (and thanks ;) ) I think the question should be: good or poor quality (you should have one and not the other), then the design istelf is down to the individual - and all tastes are catered for! The hardest things is that there are some great older skins which people want on Win7, but aren't likely to get updated. The people that made them aren't around to do the upgrade - maybe some of the more active new skinners should seek approval f

To be honest, one of the reasons that new stuff doesn't look like the "good old stuff" is that it's all be done before - there not much 'new' to do! And I use my own WindowBlinds, so I want them to be usable - every day usable - so if I do something fancy and exciting (I did the Savannah skin which had some great animal print textures) I usually end up using it for a day (or an hour, or minute...) then just switching to something that looks cool but lets me work!
