This happened on both Win 10 and 11 platforms. I have gotten past this problem by creating a shortcut first and then adding the shortcut to the application. This resolution works well at this time.

I have only ever had a 50% success rate when adding icons to object desktop. It even says, "link," but no icon. Now I have 11. Same problem
