I use this on my work computer and have convinced several others to do the same and we continue to have this problem. Several people no longer use the software because of it. I'd say the workaround using win+M instead of win+D is helpful -- but the other time this comes up is on splitting screens, and not as easily corrected. Keeping my fingers crossed for
