Clipchamp was way beyond my capabilities and I was still unable to figure out how to record the desktop. I was able to come up with a solution though. If I don't delete the old folder and move the camera icon out of that fence, then move the new folder into the fence, I can delete the old folder & then move the camera icon back into the fence and it stays in the right position. Much easier than me trying to make a video.[e digicons]|-)[/e] Thanks so much for your help!
I installed Fences 4 and that did not solve my problem. Here's my info: Windows 11 Home Version 22H2, OS build 22621.1413 and Fences 4 Version 4.1. Unfortunately, my built in recorder won't allow me to record my desktop. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am attaching a labeled screenshot that at least shows/tells you what I'm talking about. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/40/24/4024221/4aff7c71-e1ee-44eb-a2c6-59fa401ebb31.jpg" alt="" width="362"
I just wasn't sure if all my Fences 3 would transfer over to 4. I use snapshot all the time. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!
Will an upgrade to Fences 4 change any of my current fences etc.?
I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to this in Fences 3. This was a problem in Windows 10 & now 11. I have one fence with room for 6 icons. I have 5 in it. Every week one icon needs to be deleted and replaced with an updated one. This icon goes in the second row, second column. I manually move the icon that goes in the third row, first column onto the desktop to place the new icon. However, when I try to put the 5th icon back, it won't stay in the correct position within the
Turns out I was too hasty. It didn't work for either the games or the Windows "hiccup".
The purge & re-install worked for me so far. When I played PC games installed on my computer, my Fences would be all wonky after exiting the game. I'll have to wait & see if it works the next time Windows 10 "hiccups". Thanks very much!
I'm having the same problem, but not just with re-boots. Sometimes Windows 10 "hiccups" & it messes up my taskbar & fences. And yes, the icons leave the fences even though they're locked. Luckily restoring the snapshot fixes it, but it's really annoying. This has been going on for at least 3 months. My Windows 10 version is 20H2 (OS Build 19042.746). That's a recent update due to another problem with shared folders, which didn't work. I have Fences Version 3.0.9.11. Any help would be
Guess what? I found another problem causing the icons to move around. It took me awhile to pin down the cause, but luckily I use a lot of sounds. There is a scheduled task called UserTask-Roam that is causing it. It's located under Windows, CertificateServicesClient in Task Scheduler. I did a Google search but I'm finding a lot of old stuff rather than Windows 10. Figured I'd see if you, or anyone else, knew whether or not I could disable it before I did any more searching.
The image of the settings I use is in this prior post: https://forums.stardock.com/491613/page/1/#3730464
So do you just keep your computer on 24/7? (Hope that worked. My first attempt at quotes.) OK. Here's the scoop after my experiments. If I either manually, or let the computer put itself to sleep or hibernate, my Fences are intact when I power up the computer. Evidently, the only time the Fences ar
Yes, I meant lock my account. If you don't recommend sleep or hibernate, what do you? Just keep it on all day & shut it down at night? Just curious. I'm always interested in learning new things. I'm going to run a few tests in order to let you know what isn't causing the problem, & I'll get back to you with the results.
Keeping it awake did not prevent anything. Fences were still messed up.
Okey dokey! Thanks!
Well l et display & hard disk turn off and Fences were not intact this time. So you want me to keep it on all night & see what happens in the morning? Can I at least lock it?
Let display & hard disk turn off and Fences were intact afterward! Cross your fingers it stays that way. Should I still keep it from sleeping?
OK. I had "Preserve my desktop layout by scaling my fences" instead. I do use sleep, but it's either when the display turns off or the hard disk turns off in my power options that the problem occurs. It never gets to the sleep point without it already occurring. At night, I use hibernate. If I recall correctly, putting it to sleep and/or hibernating manually does not cause the problem.
OK. Thanks a lot for all your help. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
OK. I did everything & tested it. The problem has not been solved.
The trial version I installed yesterday is version 3.09.11. Is there a difference?
OK. It didn't work, but when I went to My Account, Products wasn't an option. My Downloads & Order History both give me an option to download Fences. Both are listed as 3.09. So which do I use, or does it matter?
It seems to be working so far & I tried to get it to happen. If not, I'll do what you said.
I used the one trial version download. If that doesn't work. I'll start over.
I did the purge. Am I right in assuming that Stardock has the most recent version of Fences?
