Files do not stay in Fences

Hi Folks,

Every time I reboot or start my computer, many files do not remain in Fences. They are scattered on the desktop. Some remain in Fences.

Frustrating, because I have to manually add them to their respective Fences

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your issue.

  1. Windows version. Please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.
  2. Fences version.
  3. Is this a new issue and it was working before?
  4. Does Snapshot Layout restore work?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem, but not just with re-boots. Sometimes Windows 10 "hiccups" & it messes up my taskbar & fences. And yes, the icons leave the fences even though they're locked. Luckily restoring the snapshot fixes it, but it's really annoying. This has been going on for at least 3 months. My Windows 10 version is 20H2 (OS Build 19042.746). That's a recent update due to another problem with shared folders, which didn't work. I have Fences Version 3.0.9.11. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Professional

Fences 3.0.9.11

It's been like this for the past 5-6 months

Snap shot restores it, but it's a chore I'd like to avoid

Thanks

The purge & re-install worked for me so far. When I played PC games installed on my computer, my Fences would be all wonky after exiting the game. I'll have to wait & see if it works the next time Windows 10 "hiccups". Thanks very much!

Turns out I was too hasty. It didn't work for either the games or the Windows "hiccup".

Try clean boot to see if there is something conflicting with Fences : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot
