This may not work for everyone and I don't know what other ramifications may appear, but what I finally did was: click on Configure ObjectDock; Settings; Troubleshooting Options; under System Hooks tick Temporarily disable all special Window-Event hooking. So far no adverse effects otherwise and my media programs open on top as they should.
