Cannot create a metaverse character, stuck at "Processing Data" in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

I know there are other posts on this but they are like, 4 years old so I figured I ought to make a new one. I was unsure whether to buy the game or not but my interest in the metaverse helped me to make the decision to do so, so I'm disappointed that I can't use it! Basically, I verified my serial number and account info, I copied the serial from impulse so I know it is correct. Whenever I try to create a metaverse character it gets stuck at the "Processing Data" window
