I have an 'auto-complete list' and basic function 'help tooltip' mechanisms working nicely. The current code highlighting is just the default Visual Basic support in the control, but adding more won't be very hard at all. The 'window' is just a bunch of DesktopX objects and graphics, no animations but the buttons etc. all do what they are supposed to. Interestingly the ActiveX control I've used has many functions I can't make use of as

Did anyone ever like http://www.virtualplastic.net/ ? It used to be one of my faves - still up, but no activity - but it was a very interesting read (regarding all it's win9x customization info) at the time.

At the moment I think the hardest thing for me to do will be 'code block collapsing' that notepad++ does. Notepad++ would have been my first choice for making a customized editor - but I'm not clever enough to work out how to do it.. This will be better though because I can deliberately interact with the theme directory and the objects within DesktopX as the editor will run as a desktopX object itself :-) Gives me some ideas which would have been too difficult or impo

Cool, because what I am doing exploits some behaviours of DesktopX. If they change in the future I'll just adapt, but good to work with something stable (not that I don't want DesktopX to get more work done on it!) :-) Thanks Zubaz

I may be dumb, but I couldn't see how to search *just* the DesktopX Object gallery as it doesn't appear in the 'featured galleries' list when you use the search box/options. So I looked at the URL wincustomize uses to search other galleries and found I could just tweak the URL to limit the search to DesktopX objects. template: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/[gallery name]/search/[search word] Replace the [gallery name] and [search word] with what

Wow, you guys are totally behind using Windows 7, that's 91 versions behind me! I've been using Windows 98 for ages, haven't seen a reason yet to update to Windows 2000, waiting for Windows 2013.

Neil: I have a tra and ttt using the particle engines. I have set 4, and defined 4 ParticleEngine1,2,4 sections in the tra and 4 EMITT opcodes in the ttt, one each for 0,1,2 and 3. Engines 2 and 3 don't seem to render.
