there is no such thing as "grand words", you're dumb.

Functional illiteracy is your problem.
In another thread a SD dev said they would never sacrafice gameplay for graphics
Well, I think that's just a false dichotomy fallacy, breaking the game like that into such inherently codependent elements and then opposing them to each other. It doesn't make any sense.
TBS are niche games, just check their sell numbers compared to FPS or RPGs. It also hurts that TBS games are very hard to port to consoles (so they are constrained to only one platform).
I'm pretty sure that King's Bounty: The Legend broke some barriers in that department and tapped into a whole new market, even my 8 year old arcadey nephew liked it a lot. So if Elemental is going to be like I get
"Eye candy" is not about selling the game but about making the game far more enjoyable. Correlation is not causation.
Elemental is not going to appeal to a super wide audience, any more than Gal Civ did.
My dream has always been to play a game that has a a deep strategic layer of Galactic Civilizations/Civilization 4 (with factions being far more unique, visually, and mechanics wise) with real time battle aspect with graphics/animation/physics on the level of Company of Heroes/Dawn of War 2 and Star Wars: Empire At War style detailed
No big meetings about focus group feedback...we're literally making a game that WE want to play
That is really nice to hear, a lot of games were ruined by doing the opposite.
Because they were *so* important in making Galc Civ 2 as successful as it was...
These games have a specific loyal audience. Obviously if they want to expand that market they would need to up the advertising. For example, this is something that Dawn of War 2 did and what Supreme Commander 2 will be doing. And I agree that developing epic CGI movies(like Star Wars:The Old Republic or Warhammer Online:
Ah, Supreme Commander has the coolest menu screen ever.
What are you talking about, they have a ranking system on gametrailers.com(one of the biggest sites), where you can track games, how many people read reviews? Trailers serve as means to get hyped about the game. And not only trailers but carefully orchestrated gameplay videos(like the latest Batman game).
Yeah, trailers really have to be good and captive(ideally pure epic CGI sequences), otherwise the game will get very low rating and will get a negative rep. There is such thing as negative advertising.
They haven't advertised it much or any, I thought it is a side project, not the next biggest game. P.S. there is no HD I could find
I was wondering when will you post gameplay videos(especially of combat) on gametrailers.com? Supreme Commander 2 is pre-pre-alpha and it already has gameplay videos. I am actually really excited for this game because it sounds like it will merge the best elements of King's Bounty: The Legend and Civilization 4, but screenshots don't really tell anything. Also it would be nice to know if it will have high-production values.
It might not be ultra realistic
Realistic was never the issue, and it doesn't make any sense for it to be.
No, if Elemental will have graphics(we will see about the art style) and animation on the level of King's Bounty: The Legend I will be very happy because what that game sorely missed is building your own empire and having an economy, it "only" had combat and excellent questing and adventuring. Also if different spells caused different types of deaths-freezing, burning, etc. and when you upgrade spells they have a slight visual modification. Just those 2 things w

I just can't change the fact that my percepction has changed because the standards have been hugely upgraded.
It will all come down to the quality of animations, how detailed and fluid they are and if the unit is upgraded(class or spell wise) will it have new upgraded animation and other effects concurrent with every upgrade, like lighting and such( Diablo 3 is a good example here).
Quoting Hortz, reply 2 It's not that it is just cartoonish, but that it's extremely minimalistic. Because a game that could potentially have 32 players and hundreds, if not thousands of units should have graphics like Crysis, and should only be playable on computers that won't exist for another 3 years. Gee, that makes total sence. Oh, and that's sarcasm, by the way
How can anybody make such a dumb statem
I actually kind of like the cartoonish feel.
There is a huge variety of cartoon styles obviously, so saying that doesn't mean anything. It's not that it is just cartoonish, but that it's extremely minimalistic.

http://elementalgame.com/media.asp I don't think that anybody likes this minimalistic rudimentary cartoon style of graphics. I hope that animations will be very good and detailed because at this point the animations are the only thing that can save this game. Do you agree? Also how come Stardock expects that people go from superb King's Bounty: The Legen

I uninstalled it, I will probably try to play it again after I buy a new computer although when I googled this I saw a post with PC specs far superior than mine with exactly the same issue.
