Now can we please move on.
Just one more thing and I'll be done with the forum for a while. Is elemental going to be like this- http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-09-disciples-iii/55371 do you envision this level of detail in the combat part of the game in Elemental. If not, to what game would you compare what the com

I was under the impression that Elemental will fuse elements of Civilization 4, King's Bounty: The Legend, HOMM5, Disciples 3(link above), so just for starters, out of those games Civilization 4 is the only kind of game that you falsely without merit perceive as one that inherently doesn't require high level visuals. Is there a special screen for combat in Elemental-->YES, is there a special screen for combat in Civilization 4-->NO Other stuff in your post is just warped
And no, gameplay does not equal graphics.
Dishonesty is annoying. First, graphics is not animation, visuals=graphics+animation. Second, visuals make the gameplay happen . Your narrow definition of what visuals means is your problem. For example Plants vs Zombies is a brilliant game, and it wouldn't be so without a specific kind of visuals

Isn't "gameplay" suppose to be an overarching structure of the game, how can you pull out what your eyes see and your brain experiences from that structure by manufacturing false juxtaposition of gameplay vs visuals? That doesn't make any sense...
while the movies you linked sure look pretty enough, they still don't justify your patently absurd comment about how 'animations are important especially in a turn based game'.
Can you elaborate on this, because that seemed pretty bizarre, like it's opposite day today or something... I guess so, although it would be nice to see such novel level of realism in a fantasy game.

I don't know, it's exactly the same art style, it was just hanging in one of my folders, very curious indeed.

Btw, what is the name of this art-style, it is exactly like this one- [removed] it seems to be pretty popular.
Because when a game hasn't even entered beta, the way the game looks is obviously finalized and not subject to change at all. It's not like they're still working on it or anything. I mean, there's only a year until it's released, the game should be pratically finished by now! After seeing this picture- http://media.pc.ign.com/media/142/14295360/img_7090361.html (right=bad, left=good) I completely changed my mind about the art style, what a huge difference, it almost looks like NeverwinterNights 2. Now I can't wait to see animations of units and spell effects. P.S. Stardock, you should really wait in exposing the game, because <st

The biggest flaw of Sins of the Solar Empire is that there is no story. It's not so hard, just look at Dawn of War 2 and SW: Empire at War, all it takes is some very reusable character animation windows and voice acting, and story of course. But I get the feeling that Starcraft 2 will greatly upgrade the standards of how the story is done in strategy games, in terms of scope, replayability and non-linearity.

I would like to agree with what is being said here, but when I look at King's Bounty: The Legend, I think it will age great too, especially considering the high quality of animations and various spell effects in combat, but Elemental art style so far looks devoid of content and details , like I said before realism is not the issue, nor that it is cartoonish, but what kind of cartoonish, I hope that is obvious to everyone. Maybe it is too early to talk about this.
(a trailer of DoW quality was probably around 500k - 750k).
I figured it would cost so much, after all, you can't find that kind of quality even in high-budget SF movies. There is just nothing better out there, this studio is probably the pinnacle of visual excellence, with Star Wars: The Old Repuplic they even outdid themselves.

Yeah, I remember spending a lot of time with Civilization too, but after Supreme Commander I just can't enjoy the combat itself like before, too bad Supreme Commander doesn't have a metastrategic layer like Star Wars; Empire at war did, it was so close...

Finally, a reasonable amount of reasonable posts, and don't forget that it's important to have clear language: 1.graphics is not animation 2.visuals=graphics+animation, there is nothing like solid detailed animation to make the game alive, immersive and far more fun to play
